ROLE PURPOSE

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare year-end statutory financial statements, for a varied portfolio of clients across a range of sectors
  • Assist with the preparation of management accounts, budgets and forecasts.
  • Prepare and review VAT returns, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and deadlines.
  • Perform reconciliations including bank, debtor and creditor reconciliations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records.
  • Liaise with colleagues across service lines to ensure client work is delivered efficiently and to agreed timescales.
  • Maintain technical knowledge of accounting, taxation and regulatory developments.
  • Utilise accounting software and technology solutions to support efficient service delivery.
  • As the role progresses, begin to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, acting as a key point of contact for routine queries.
  • As the role progresses, identifying opportunities to add value to clients and support the delivery of advisory projects where appropriate.

Experience & qualifications

Experience and Skills Required:
  • Qualified or Part Qualified ACA, ACCA or equivalent.
  • Previous experience working within an accountancy practice environment and similar role.
  • Experience preparing statutory accounts for SME and owner-managed business clients.
  • Strong reconciliation and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to build effective relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and cloud accounting software such as Xero, Bright Accounts or Sage.
  • A proactive approach with a commitment to delivering excellent client service.
