Role Title: Pan-European International Tax Senior Manager

BU/Segment: Finance

Location: Dublin, Republic of Ireland (Flexible hybrid working)

Summary of the role:

We are seeking an experienced International Tax Manager to join our global tax organization and serve as the lead tax professional for Ireland, the United Kingdom, and designated European jurisdictions. This is a high-visibility role reporting directly to the US VP of Tax in the United States and partnering closely with finance, legal, treasury, transfer pricing, accounting, and business leaders across Europe, North America, India and APAC.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing direct and indirect tax matters across Ireland, the United Kingdom, and multiple European jurisdictions in coordination with respective Tax Leadership. Responsibilities include corporate income tax compliance, tax reporting, transfer pricing governance, VAT oversight, tax planning initiatives, audit defense, and tax risk management. This role offers significant exposure to strategic business initiatives, M&A activities, global tax transformation projects, and emerging international tax developments, including OECD Pillar Two matters.

As part of your duties, you will be responsible for:

Tax Compliance & Reporting

  • Manage corporate income tax compliance across Ireland, the UK, and designated European jurisdictions.
  • Coordinate local and regional tax filings with internal teams and external advisors.
  • Coordination with local country finance teams.
  • Assist in quarterly and annual tax provision processes and reporting to global tax leadership.
  • Review tax accounting positions and support external audit requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with local tax legislation, OECD guidance, and group tax policies.

International Tax Advisory

  • Participate in developing technical tax advice on cross-border transactions, restructurings, intercompany arrangements, and business expansion initiatives.
  • Help analyze permanent establishment risks, withholding tax implications, treaty positions, and international tax exposures.
  • Support legal entity restructurings and organizational simplification projects.
  • Advise business leaders on tax implications of commercial and operational decisions.

Transfer Pricing

  • Support the development and implementation of global transfer pricing policies.
  • Assist with transfer pricing documentation and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with business and finance teams to ensure operational transfer pricing compliance.
  • Support tax authority reviews and transfer pricing audits.

Indirect Tax (VAT) Management

  • Coordinate VAT and indirect tax compliance across Ireland, the UK, and designated European jurisdictions in coordination with local finance teams and external advisors.
  • Coordinate with Indirect Tax Leadership to review significant VAT positions related to cross-border services, intercompany transactions, procurement activities, and customer invoicing arrangements.
  • Advise business stakeholders on indirect tax implications of new products, service offerings, operating models, and expansion initiatives.
  • Monitor legislative developments affecting VAT, digital services, e-invoicing, and indirect tax reporting obligations across Europe.
  • Support indirect tax audits, inquiries, and dispute resolution with tax authorities across the region.
  • Ensure appropriate indirect tax controls, processes, and documentation are maintained to minimize compliance risk and optimize recovery opportunities.
  • Familiarity with VAT implications of cross-border service delivery models and outsourcing/BPM operations.

Tax Risk & Governance

  • Help manage tax audits and inquiries involving Irish Revenue, HMRC, and other European tax authorities.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate tax risks across regional operations in coordinate with Tax Leadership.
  • Maintain and enhance local tax control frameworks and governance processes.
  • Monitor legislative developments impacting European operations and communicate implications to senior management.

Strategic Projects

  • Participate in mergers, acquisitions, and integration activities as necessary.
  • Support tax aspects of financing, treasury, and cash repatriation initiatives.
  • Assist with global tax planning projects and business transformation activities.
  • Assist with local implementation of international tax reforms.

Qualifications and experience we consider to be essential for the role:

  • Bachelor's/Advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, Economics, or related field.
  • Professional qualifications such as Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA), ACA, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent
  • 7-10+ years of progressive international tax experience in a Big Four accounting firm
  • Strong knowledge of Irish and UK corporate tax rules for income and indirect taxes and other taxes generally
  • Experience managing tax matters across multiple European jurisdictions
  • Solid understanding of transfer pricing principles and guidelines
  • Experience with tax provisions under US GAAP
  • Experience managing European VAT and indirect tax matters across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Excellent project management and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving abilities
  • Self-motivated individual who can perform well as an individual and as a team member.

Skills and Personal attributes we would like to have:

  • Experience with multinational service, technology, business process outsourcing, or consulting organizations.
  • Exposure to tax technology tools and process automation initiatives, and appetite for learning.
  • Fluency in Romanian and Bulgarian languages.
  • Establish themselves as EXL’s local tax resource for Ireland, the UK, and key European jurisdictions, including Bulgaria, Romania, and the Czech Republic.
  • Build strong relationships with regional finance and business leadership teams.
  • Successfully manage tax compliance, reporting, and audit activities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve tax processes and strengthen controls.
  • Contribute to strategic tax initiatives and global transformation projects.

Within the first year, the successful candidate will:

  • Establish themselves as EXL’s local tax resource for Ireland, the UK, and key European jurisdictions, including Bulgaria, Romania, and the Czech Republic.
  • Build strong relationships with regional finance and business leadership teams.
  • Successfully manage tax compliance, reporting, and audit activities.
