Abrivia are currently recruiting for an Assistant Underwriter on behalf of our client, an international speciality insurance business with a growing portfolio and a collaborative Dublin team.

Working closely with the European Chief Underwriting Officer, you will support new business underwriting and portfolio administration across a range of speciality insurance lines. This hands-on role will suit someone with relevant insurance experience who wants to build their technical knowledge alongside an experienced underwriting leader. The team takes a practical approach, with people working hard and supporting their colleagues.

Your Role:

  • Support day-to-day communication with brokers and maintain records of the information they provide.
  • Keep underwriting files organised and ensure supporting documentation remains up to date.
  • Work with underwriting data in Excel to produce reports and assist with the preparation of PowerPoint presentations.
  • Support post-bind administration, including preparing information and presentations for reinsurance partners.
  • Enter and update information across internal underwriting and contract management systems.
  • Develop your understanding of the portfolio and contribute to the wider work of the underwriting team.
  • Help identify practical uses for AI and technology to improve how the team works.

Your Skills:

  • At least two years’ insurance experience, ideally within speciality insurance or reinsurance. Candidates with underwriting experience in domestic insurance will also be considered.
  • Strong practical Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs.
  • Strong PowerPoint skills and confidence preparing presentations.
  • Comfortable learning and using new underwriting systems.
  • CIP qualified or working towards it, with an interest in progressing towards ACII.
  • An interest in how AI can support the business and a willingness to develop your knowledge.
  • A collaborative approach, willingness to get involved and an appetite to learn.
  • Comfortable travelling to London reasonably regularly
