The Associate Manager, Commercial Acceleration supports the delivery of high-priority commercial initiatives across Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine Canada. Reporting to the Director, Commercial Acceleration & Sales Excellence and working closely with Managers, Commercial Acceleration, the Associate Manager provides disciplined project leadership, analysis and execution support as part of an agile enterprise team deployed against the organization’s highest-value opportunities.

The role is not permanently assigned to a single brand, therapeutic area or stage of the product lifecycle. Assignments may include supporting growth initiatives for established or under-supported assets, future-asset commercialization, strategic-account programs, innovative go-to-market models, and defined site, network or commercial operations workstreams for complex therapies. The Associate Manager owns defined projects or workstreams within broader initiatives, translating direction into integrated plans, coordinating cross-functional delivery, developing insights and recommendations, and ensuring that milestones, risks, decisions and outcomes are visible. The role is expected to learn quickly, bring structure to ambiguity, communicate effectively and deliver high-quality work with increasing independence.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver Enterprise Commercial Priorities

  • Manage defined projects or workstreams across therapeutic areas, brands and lifecycle stages under the direction of the Director or an accountable Manager.
  • Translate agreed objectives into project plans, deliverables, milestones, dependencies, decision points and measures of success.
  • Coordinate day-to-day execution, maintain project documentation and follow through on actions and commitments.
  • Adapt plans and priorities as the enterprise portfolio evolves while protecting delivery quality and timelines.

Support In-Market Growth

  • Conduct analyses to identify opportunities for established, non-promoted or under-supported assets.
  • Support the development and execution of focused demand-generation, customer-activation and account initiatives.
  • Coordinate selected digital, virtual, non-face-to-face or alternative engagement pilots.
  • Track performance, gather field and customer feedback, and translate findings into recommendations.

Support Future-Asset Commercialization

  • Support assessment of the Canadian commercial opportunity for selected pipeline and emerging assets in partnership with the Directors and Managers and in-line brand teams.
  • Synthesize field insights, market research and secondary data related to market potential, customer needs, patient pathways, competitive dynamics and evidence gaps.
  • Develop components of commercialization strategies, investment scenarios, business cases and go-to-market recommendations.
  • Support assessment of future capabilities, field resources and operating-model requirements.

Support Innovative Commercial Models

  • Research and help design new customer-engagement, account-management and resource-deployment approaches.
  • Coordinate pilots involving flexible field resources, contract resources, digital-first or hybrid engagement.
  • Define tracking plans, consolidate results and prepare recommendations to scale, refine or discontinue each approach.

Build Scalable and Sustainable Enterprise Capability

  • Create and maintain project templates, playbooks, trackers, governance materials and other reusable tools.
  • Document learning and decisions so that knowledge remains within the Commercial Acceleration team as assignments rotate.
  • Share insights and effective practices across the team and broader organization.
  • Contribute to a flexible workforce with broad commercial, analytical and enterprise capability.

Partner Cross-Functionally

  • Coordinate with Commercial, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Finance, Regulatory, Legal, Healthcare Compliance, Supply Chain, Patient Support, Data and Digital Excellence.
  • Clarify roles, responsibilities, decision rights and hand-offs for assigned workstreams.
  • Prepare clear updates, analyses and recommendations for governance forums and senior stakeholders.
  • Maintain an enterprise perspective and ensure work is completed in accordance with applicable policies and functional requirements.

Manage Project Performance and Resources

  • Establish and maintain practical measures of success for assigned projects and workstreams.
  • Monitor milestones, outcomes, budget inputs, resource use, risks and strategic value.
  • Identify delivery risks early, recommend mitigation and escalate decisions at the appropriate time.
  • Balance multiple concurrent assignments and communicate capacity constraints transparently.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, science, healthcare or a related discipline.
  • Typically three to five years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology or healthcare industry, or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Experience in at least two of the following areas: marketing; sales; commercial strategy; new product or launch planning; strategic or key accounts; market access; commercial operations; digital or omnichannel engagement; business development; portfolio management; or project management.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional projects or workstreams with multiple stakeholders and dependencies.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to bring structure to ambiguity, manage competing priorities and deliver with limited supervision.
  • Ability to influence without authority and build effective working relationships.
  • Ability to learn new therapeutic areas, customer groups and business contexts quickly.
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills, including the ability to synthesize information for senior audiences.
  • Sound judgement and commitment to working within applicable policies, decision rights and functional boundaries.

Preferred
