The Manager, Commercial Acceleration is responsible for leading high-priority commercial initiatives across Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine Canada.

Reporting to the Director, Commercial Acceleration & Sales Excellence, the Manager operates as part of an agile enterprise team that deploys expertise and capacity to the organization’s highest-value opportunities. The role is not permanently assigned to a single brand, therapeutic area or stage of the product lifecycle.

Assignments may include accelerating growth from established or under-supported assets, developing commercialization strategies for future opportunities, designing innovative go-to-market models, and leading strategic-account initiatives.

The Commercial Acceleration team may retain ongoing ownership of work that is intentionally centralized outside traditional brand teams. Individual assignments may change, but the capability, knowledge, processes and accountabilities remain within the team.

The Manager is expected to quickly understand new opportunities, create clarity from ambiguity, mobilize cross-functional partners and deliver measurable patient, customer, business or organizational impact.

Key Responsibilities

Lead Enterprise Commercial Priorities

  • Lead a rotating portfolio of high-priority initiatives across therapeutic areas, brands and lifecycle stages.
  • Translate ambiguous business needs into clear objectives, deliverables, milestones and measures of success.
  • Adjust focus as enterprise and portfolio priorities evolve.

Accelerate In-Market Growth

  • Identify opportunities to unlock additional value from established, non-promoted or under-supported assets.
  • Develop focused demand-generation and customer-activation strategies.
  • Lead selected strategic-account initiatives.
  • Explore alternative promotional, digital, virtual and non-face-to-face engagement approaches.

Support Future Asset Commercialization

  • Assess the Canadian commercial opportunity for selected pipeline and emerging assets to support Director NBO and in-line brand teams.
  • Evaluate market potential, customer needs, patient pathways, competitive dynamics and evidence gaps through filed insights and market research
  • Develop commercialization strategies, investment scenarios and go-to-market recommendations.
  • Identify future capability, field-resource and operating-model requirements.

Enable Commercial and Healthcare-System Readiness

  • Lead selected implementation initiatives for complex therapies
  • Coordinate operational readiness plans, milestones, dependencies, risks and escalation.
  • Support selected institutional contracts, implementation agreements and governance structures in partnership with accountable functions.

Develop Innovative Commercial Models

  • Design and test new customer-engagement, account-management and resource-deployment models.
  • Explore flexible field-force, contract-resource, digital-first and hybrid engagement approaches.
  • Translate pilot results into recommendations to scale, refine or discontinue each approach.

Build Scalable and Sustainable Enterprise Capability

  • Develop tools and frameworks that can be used across multiple assets.
  • Maintain organizational knowledge and continuity when individual assignments rotate.
  • Share insights and best practices across the Commercial Acceleration team and broader organization.
  • Contribute to building a flexible workforce with broad commercial and enterprise capability.

Lead Through Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Partner across Commercial, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Finance, Regulatory, Legal, Healthcare Compliance, Supply Chain, Patient Support, Data & Digital Excellence.
  • Maintain clear responsibilities, decision rights and functional boundaries.
  • Represent an enterprise perspective rather than advocating for a single brand.

Manage Performance and Resources

  • Establish measures of success for each significant assignment.
  • Monitor project outcomes, investment, resource use and strategic value.
  • Balance delivery of current assignments with the need to preserve capacity for emerging priorities.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, science, healthcare or a related discipline.
  • 2+ years of in-line marketing experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology or healthcare industry.
  • Demonstrated experience and success in at least two of the following:

  • Strong commercial judgement, strategic thinking and project leadership.
  • Proven ability to create clarity from ambiguity and influence without authority.
  • Ability to learn new therapeutic areas, customer groups and business contexts quickly.
  • Strong written, verbal and executive-presentation skills.

Preferred

  • Experience with product launches, emerging assets or commercialization strategy, end of lifecycle management.
  • Experience with advanced therapies, specialized treatment networks or site-readiness programs.
  • Experience developing new commercial models or alternative customer-engagement approaches.
  • MBA or other relevant advanced degree would be an asset
  • Bilingualism is an asset
