Position Overview

The Bookkeeper will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing daily accounting activities, and supporting financial reporting for Windsor Heart Institute. This full-time remote position requires strong bookkeeping knowledge, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with administrative and clinical leadership.

The successful candidate will play an important role in maintaining financial accuracy, supporting budgeting and audit processes, monitoring expenses, and ensuring compliance with established accounting procedures and applicable healthcare regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Record and maintain accurate financial transactions in the accounting system.
  • Prepare, review, and post journal entries in accordance with standard accounting practices.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, general ledger accounts, and other financial records.
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoice processing and payment tracking.
  • Monitor expenses, maintain financial documentation, and investigate discrepancies.
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and management reporting.
  • Maintain organized records for audits, tax filings, and financial reviews.
  • Ensure financial transactions comply with internal policies, applicable accounting standards, and relevant healthcare regulations.
  • Collaborate with administrative and clinical leadership to provide accurate financial information for operational decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities to improve bookkeeping processes, reporting accuracy, and financial controls.
  • Maintain the confidentiality and security of sensitive financial and business information.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Demonstrated bookkeeping experience, including transaction recording, account reconciliation, and general ledger maintenance.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing financial statements and supporting financial reporting.
  • Proficiency with accounting software, spreadsheets, and other financial management tools.
  • Strong knowledge of journal entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and standard accounting practices.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while communicating effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of financial controls, documentation standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Previous experience in healthcare, a medical office, or a professional services environment is an asset.
  • An associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Bookkeeping, or a related field is preferred.
Salary and Benefits

Annual Salary: $85,000–$95,000 CAD, depending on qualifications, relevant experience, and demonstrated skills.
