This is a remote position.
We are an accounting services firm supporting a portfolio of client businesses. We are looking for a detail-oriented, reliable offshore bookkeeper to manage day-to-day bookkeeping tasks across multiple client accounts in Xero. This role requires strong organizational skills, accuracy, and the ability to manage confidential financial information with discretion.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable, Receivable, Payroll & Fixed Assets
● Manage accounts payable: enter and code bills in Xero, schedule payments, track due dates
● Manage accounts receivable: issue invoices, track payments, initial follow up on outstanding balances &
assist with application of credit policies
● Process payroll for client businesses, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
● Register Fixed Assets in relevant asset classes, when purchased
Reconciliations
● Perform regular bank reconciliations across client accounts in Xero
● Complete month-end reconciliations, including reconciling to other client platforms as required
● Prepare and/or process regular journal entries
● Identify and resolve discrepancies promptly
Client Process & Documentation
● Document and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for each client's bookkeeping processes
● Keep client files organized and up to date in line with standards
Time Tracking & Reporting
● Maintain an accurate daily timesheet logging hours by task, across each client
● Where required, provide a brief summary of tasks completed for projects or special tasks
Confidentiality & Administration
● Maintain strict confidentiality of all client financial data and business information
● Perform other administrative tasks as assigned (data entry, filing, correspondence, etc.)
Requirements
● Proven experience as a bookkeeper, ideally supporting multiple clients
● Proficiency with Xero accounting software
● Strong understanding of payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and reconciliation processes
● Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
● Ability to manage time across multiple clients and meet deadlines
● Strong written and spoken English communication skills
● High level of integrity and discretion with sensitive financial information
● Reliable internet connection and suitable home-office setup
Preferred Qualifications
● Accounting diploma/certification (e.g. bookkeeping certificate, part-qualified accountant)
● Xero certification / experience
● Experience working within Australian tax systems
● Experience in Google Workspace
