We are seeking an autonomous, detail-driven Intermediate Bookkeeper with solid Australian payroll and bookkeeping experience to join our global network. Operating 100% remotely during Australian day-shift business hours and reporting to the Senior Bookkeeper/Bookkeeping Supervisor, you will oversee a portfolio of small to medium-sized Australian clients-managing end-to-end payroll processing, complex account reconciliations, monthly management reporting, and BAS compliance.
Your Impact
End-to-End AU Payroll Execution: Manage full-cycle payroll workflows, applying Modern Award interpretations, tracking employee leave accruals, executing superannuation contributions, and filing Single Touch Payroll (STP) updates.
Account Reconciliations & Month-End: Prepare and maintain comprehensive bank, Accounts Receivable (AR), Accounts Payable (AP), and balance sheet account reconciliations to ensure complete financial accuracy.
Management Reporting: Draft monthly management reporting packs that provide clear, accurate financial insights to client leadership and senior accounting teams.
Portfolio & BAS Compliance Support: Maintain routine bookkeeping transactions across diverse client files, prepare draft Business Activity Statements (BAS), and assist with workflow management.
Direct Client Engagement: Liaise directly with Australian clients and onshore teams to gather receipts, resolve payroll and transaction queries, and deliver proactive client support.
What You Bring
The Experience: 2 to 3 years of hands-on Australian bookkeeping experience, including direct experience managing payroll for Australian businesses within a public practice or outsourced environment.
Software Mastery: High proficiency in cloud platforms like Xero and MYOB, alongside automated document/data capture solutions such as Hubdoc or Dext.
Payroll Platform Expertise: Demonstrated hands-on experience using Australian payroll software (e.g., Xero Payroll, MYOB Payroll, Employment Hero, Connecteam, or Rippling).
Technical Knowledge: Strong command of Australian payroll legislation, superannuation rules, STP reporting, GST, and general balance sheet reconciliations.
Capabilities: Exceptional organization, high data entry accuracy, keen problem-solving skills, and outstanding written and verbal English communication skills.
