Full-Time, 40 hrs/week | PST-overlap schedule - Remote | Long-Term Contract
About the Role
A U.S.-based business management and accounting firm serving clients in the entertainment industry is looking for an experienced accounting professional to join their remote team. This role combines full-charge bookkeeping end-to-end with active U.S. tax preparation. It is a high-ownership position for someone who already understands accounting fundamentals, can operate independently, and brings real hands-on experience preparing U.S. tax returns.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle full-charge bookkeeping from transaction entry through financial reporting
- Record and categorize financial transactions accurately in accordance with U.S. GAAP
- Perform bank and account reconciliations
- Manage accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR)
- Process and support payroll activities
- Prepare and maintain financial statements and accounting records
- Assist with financial analysis and account review
- Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up on open account issues
- Support client bill payment and accounting-related business management activities
- Prepare and support U.S. tax returns under the supervision of the firm's CPA
- Work primarily in QuickBooks and the firm's internal workflow systems, including TaxDome
- Follow established internal procedures while proactively communicating discrepancies or issues to management
Requirements
- Accounting or Finance degree required
- 3+ years of relevant accounting or full-charge bookkeeping experience
- Hands-on experience preparing U.S. tax returns — this is a hard requirement. Candidates without direct tax preparation experience will not be considered
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP
- Hands-on experience with: bank reconciliations, AP, AR, payroll, and financial statement preparation
- Strong QuickBooks proficiency (daily operational use)
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong written and verbal English communication
- Experience with U.S.-based companies or accounting firms strongly preferred
- Enrolled Agent (EA) designation is a plus but not required
- CPA designation is not required
- TaxDome experience is a plus
Ideal Candidate
You already handle full-charge bookkeeping independently and have prepared U.S. tax returns — you don't need to be trained on either. You're sharp, accurate, and proactive about flagging issues before they escalate. You take ownership of your work and are comfortable operating in a fast-paced professional services environment serving entertainment industry clients.
