POSITION SUMMARY
The Building Code Administrator is responsible for the administration, interpretation, and enforcement of the Florida Building Code (FBC) and applicable ICC/IRC codes across Inspected's virtual inspection and plan review operations. This role serves as the company's subject matter expert on code compliance, acting as an Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) resource for internal teams, clients, and municipal partners, and ensures inspection and plan review services remain consistent with state, local, and jurisdictional requirements.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Code Administration & Enforcement
- Administers, interprets, and enforces FBC/ICC code requirements across all inspection and plan review service lines.
- Serves as an Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) resource for government, educational, and municipal accounts.
- Monitors changes to the Florida Building Code, ICC/IRC codes, and jurisdictional processes, and communicates updates to internal teams.
- Represents Inspected in code compliance matters with regulatory agencies and municipal partners.
- Provides expert code analysis, interpretation, and technical direction to inspection and plan review staff.
- Oversees quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) reviews of inspection and plan review work product.
- Reviews and resolves complex or escalated code compliance issues in collaboration with contractors, building owners, and municipal officials.
- Supports department planning, cost controls, and service line implementation.
- Prepares cost estimates and proposals for code-related service lines as needed.
- Supports emergency operations and incident management planning as needed.
- Participates in cross-training with inspection and plan review staff to broaden institutional code knowledge.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU'LL BE MEASURED ON
- Consistency and accuracy of code interpretation across inspection and plan review output
- QA/QC pass rates and reduction in code-compliance escalations
- Timeliness of code guidance provided to internal teams
- Strength of municipal and AHJ relationships
- Successful resolution of complex or escalated code issues
WHAT YOU BRING
- High School Diploma or GED required; degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Active ICC Certified Building Code Administrator certification required.
- Florida DBPR Certified Building Code Administrator license required, or ability to obtain within a defined period.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in building code administration, enforcement, or a related field; prior experience as a Building Official or AHJ strongly preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of the Florida Building Code (FBC), ICC/IRC codes, and jurisdictional requirements.
- Experience with code consulting, plan review, QA/QC, or inspection service lines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interpret and communicate complex code requirements to varied audiences.
- Commitment to professionalism, accuracy, and continuous learning.
- ICC Certified Plans Examiner and/or Certified Building Inspector certification.
- Business development, estimating, and proposal writing experience.
- Familiarity with permitting or code software (e.g., EnerGov, MuniCode, Bluebeam, CityView).

TRAVEL
This position may require occasional travel (up to 10%) for municipal, client, or jurisdictional meetings.
