WORKING ENVIRONMENT & PROJECTS

You will be part of a close-knit pre-construction team working alongside senior estimators, commercial managers and operations leaders. The environment is supportive and professional, with clear processes, good access to historical cost data and a leadership team that values accurate, well-reasoned pricing.

Tenders typically involve building projects of €5 million and above, offering variety in scale, sector and procurement route. You will be involved from the first review of tender documents through to final adjudication, gaining a rounded view of how projects are priced, positioned and won.

The role is offered on a hybrid basis, balancing time in the Dublin office with remote working. This flexibility, combined with a manageable workload and a genuine commitment to professional development, makes it an attractive long-term career move for an estimator looking to grow within a stable business.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare accurate and competitive tenders for building projects of €5m and above
• Price works from first principles, building up rates for labour, plant, materials and preliminaries
• Review tender documents, drawings, specifications and bills of quantities to identify scope, risks and opportunities
• Issue enquiries, obtain and analyse subcontractor and supplier quotations, ensuring full scope coverage
• Work with operations and planning teams on methodology, programme and preliminaries
• Prepare tender qualifications, clarifications and risk registers
• Present tender summaries and pricing rationale at adjudication meetings with senior management
• Support the handover of successful tenders to the project delivery team

WHAT YOU NEED

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or a similar discipline
• At least 5 years’ estimating experience with a main contractor, or a mix of PQS and contractor experience
• A proven record of pricing building projects worth €5m+ from first principles
• Sound knowledge of construction methods, materials and building costs in the Irish market
• Familiarity with Irish forms of contract such as RIAI and PWC
• Experience with estimating software (e.g. CCS Candy or similar) is beneficial but not essential
• Strong attention to detail, analytical skills and the ability to manage multiple tenders to deadline
