Business Analyst

About the role

Ready to make an impact on a major government modernisation programme? We’re seeking an experienced Technical Business Analyst to support a significant finance modernisation initiative, with a focus on data platforms, legacy systems and complex integrations.

• 12-month contract with possible extension
• Brisbane CBD location
• Initial three months onsite, with hybrid working arrangements thereafter

Key Responsibilities

• Analyse legacy systems, data structures and existing integration processes to identify requirements and dependencies.
• Develop source-to-target data mappings, data lineage documentation and business rules.
• Define data ingestion, transformation and integration requirements across enterprise platforms.
• Collaborate with architects, developers and business stakeholders on data models, solution design and technical documentation.
• Support system integration testing and user acceptance testing, including test scenarios, validation and issue resolution.

Highly desirable criteria

• Experience with Azure Databricks and modern cloud-based data platforms.
• Strong understanding of ETL/ELT processes, data pipelines and data transformation.
• Experience with Power BI and enterprise data or reporting modernisation.

Desirable criteria

• Experience with APIs, database schemas and system integration design.
• Knowledge of iPaaS platforms and integration catalogues.
• Previous experience supporting government data transformation or finance modernisation programmes.

Skills and experience

• Proven experience as a Technical Business Analyst, Data Business Analyst or Integration Business Analyst.
• Strong capability in data mapping, data lineage, data modelling and requirements documentation.
• Experience translating complex business needs into clear functional and technical requirements.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively with both business and technical teams in an Agile delivery environment.
