Senior Business Analyst - Data Strategy & Systems Integration

Location: Dublin South (Dún Laoghaire)
Rate: €450-480 per day
Contract: 12 months
Working Arrangement: Hybrid - 3 days per week in the office
Start Date: 9 November 2026

Must hold either EU passport or Stamp 4 visa.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst to support a major Data Strategy programme within a complex operational environment. This 12-month contract offers the opportunity to improve how an organisation manages, governs and uses its data, with a focus on establishing a single source of truth, improving data quality, reducing duplication and strengthening integration between internal systems.

Working closely with business stakeholders, management and technical teams, you will analyse existing processes, identify data-related improvement opportunities and translate business needs into clear, actionable requirements for systems, integrations, reports and dashboards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate stakeholder workshops and interviews with business and technical teams to understand existing processes, data requirements and operational challenges.

  • Document structured business and data requirements, process maps, data flows, user stories and acceptance criteria.

  • Support data audits, data cataloguing and the development of a Data Asset Register, identifying critical datasets, data owners, users, systems and quality issues.

  • Define data ownership, stewardship, quality, validation, access, security and retention requirements.

  • Identify opportunities to improve workflows, automate processes, integrate systems and enhance reporting and dashboards.

  • Develop future-state process models aligned with the organisation's Data Strategy.

  • Maintain a requirements traceability matrix, prioritised requirements backlog and RAID log.

  • Prepare user acceptance testing (UAT) scenarios, supporting documentation and formal deliverables for review, approval, implementation and handover.

  • Work with stakeholders to support change management, user adoption, training and knowledge transfer.

Essential Requirements

Candidates must clearly demonstrate all essential criteria on their CV:

  • At least 7 years' experience as a Business Analyst or in a similar role.

  • At least two relevant assignments involving data strategy, systems integration, digital transformation, workflow or reporting improvement, change initiatives or data-related requirements gathering.

  • Proven experience producing structured business requirements, process maps, data flow documentation and acceptance criteria.

  • Strong experience facilitating workshops and interviews with both business and technical stakeholders.

  • Experience documenting requirements for systems, reports, dashboards, integrations or data quality improvements.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience producing formal documentation for review, approval, procurement, implementation and handover.

  • Understanding of data management principles, including data ownership, stewardship, quality, metadata, governance, lifecycle management and information asset management.

  • Experience supporting data audits, data catalogues or information asset registers.

  • Hands-on familiarity with Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Power Platform, Power BI and SQL-based systems, alongside internal business, workflow and reporting tools.

  • Ability to bridge operational requirements, data governance and technical delivery.

  • A Level 8 degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, such as Business Information Systems, Information Management, Computer Science, Business, Engineering or Digital Transformation. Alternatively, substantial relevant experience combined with an internationally recognised Business Analysis qualification, such as CBAP, IIBA or BCS.

  • Fluent English.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience in the public sector, semi-state organisations, local authorities, regulatory bodies, maritime, infrastructure or similarly operationally complex environments.

  • Knowledge of change management, benefits realisation, user adoption, training and knowledge transfer.

  • Experience contributing to data strategy implementation, data cleansing initiatives and data management plans.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for a structured, analytical and highly communicative Business Analyst who can engage confidently with stakeholders at all levels, make complex data and process requirements understandable, and produce high-quality documentation that supports effective decision-making and delivery.

To apply, please submit your up-to-date CV clearly demonstrating how you meet each of the essential requirements.
