Location: Wales, Bristol & the South West
Salary: £84,000–£95,000 + competitive benefits
Working Pattern: Home-based with regular travel across the area.
Client: Large banking client
The Opportunity
We are recruiting for a Business Development Manager to join a large banking client, supporting the continued growth of its wealth and investment platform proposition across Wales, Bristol and the wider South West.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced financial services professional with a strong background in investment platforms, pensions and the retirement market. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing new business, strengthening existing intermediary relationships and increasing market share.
The business has an established heritage in pensions and ambitious plans to grow its position in the wealth and investment platform market, with a particular focus on retirement planning and decumulation.
This is a field-based, home-working role, combining flexibility with regular face-to-face meetings across the region. A full driving licence and access to a car are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop new business opportunities and manage existing relationships across a portfolio of financial advisers and intermediary clients throughout Wales, Bristol and the South West.
- Drive sales growth and achieve agreed new business, retention and distribution targets for investment platforms and multi-asset investment funds.
- Build strong, long-term relationships with financial advisers, wealth managers and other intermediary partners.
- Identify opportunities to increase platform adoption, grow assets and strengthen the organisation's market position.
- Develop and implement effective business plans tailored to individual accounts, understanding each client's objectives, challenges and commercial priorities.
- Deliver engaging presentations and tailored pitches, demonstrating a strong understanding of the platform proposition and retirement solutions.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Essential: Direct investment platform experience within financial services.
- Essential: Experience in pensions and the retirement market, ideally including retirement planning, pension drawdown or decumulation.
- A proven track record in business development, sales or relationship management within financial services.
- Experience working with financial advisers, wealth managers or other intermediary clients.
- A strong commercial mindset, with the ability to identify opportunities, develop relationships and generate new business.
- Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills, with the confidence to engage clients face to face and virtually.
- The ability to develop account plans, manage a territory independently and deliver against sales targets.
- A good understanding of the intermediary market and the regulatory environment affecting pensions and investment platforms.
- A proactive, self-motivated approach and the ability to work effectively in a flexible, field-based position.
- A full driving licence and access to a car, as regular travel across the territory is required.
A CII/PFS Level 4 qualification would be advantageous but is not essential.
Working Pattern
This is a flexible, home-based role with a strong field-based element. You will manage your own area, working from home when appropriate and travelling regularly to meet intermediary clients across Wales, Bristol and the wider South West.
You must be based within, or within a reasonable travelling distance of, the territory and be comfortable spending significant time on the road.
Salary & Benefits
- Competitive base salary of approximately £84,000–£95,000, depending on experience.
- Annual performance-related bonus.
- Pension contributions of up to 15%.
- Share schemes, including free shares.
- 30 days' annual leave, plus bank holidays.
- Additional lifestyle, wellbeing and employee benefits.
