Interested in a career that matters?

Are you ready to help shape new growth opportunities in biopharma processing? Join Novonesis and help build a sustainable opportunity pipeline by connecting market needs, scientific capabilities, and strong external partnerships.

As our new Business Development Manager, you will join the Biopharma Processing Aids Venture team and work across functions to advance new product development, partnerships, and market opportunities. You will engage with biopharma companies, CDMOs, technology providers, and senior stakeholders across the biopharma ecosystem.

The role & your impact

You will play a central role in the commercial and strategic development of the Biopharma Processing Aids Venture. Combining market insight, partnership development, and cross-functional project leadership, you will identify, validate, and advance opportunities from early exploration toward scalable business potential.

Your key responsibilities in this role:

  • Identify and assess business development opportunities through market landscaping, customer and expert engagement, opportunity sizing, and strategic fit assessments.
  • Develop go-to-market and pricing considerations and identify the capabilities required to scale promising opportunities.
  • Build, mature, and manage partnerships and a strong external network across the biopharma landscape.
  • Translate partner and customer needs into concrete innovation opportunities and commercially relevant solutions.
  • Lead business development projects, manage stakeholders, and collaborate across the Venture team, R&D, Legal, and senior management.
  • Plan and participate in strategic conferences and industry events, and support partnership models and contractual negotiations.

What you’ll need to be successful in this role

  • A Master’s degree and/or PhD in a relevant life-science field, such as biochemistry, biotechnology, pharmaceutical sciences, or engineering, combined with strong business acumen.
  • At least five years of relevant experience in business development, strategic project management, project leadership, consulting, or a similar role within pharma, biotech, CDMO, or a related life-science industry.
  • A strong understanding of biopharma product development and the ability to translate technical insights into strategic and commercial opportunities.
  • Experience working with external partners and customers and navigating a matrixed organization.
  • Strong project and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to independently drive multiple initiatives.
  • Expert-level English communication skills in writing, conversation, and presentations.

Additional skills & interests we value

  • An entrepreneurial mindset and the drive to create momentum in an evolving venture environment.
  • Creative and strategic thinking when addressing commercial and technical challenges.
  • Confidence in building relationships, engaging external decision-makers, and contributing to negotiations.
  • The ability to communicate complex technical topics clearly and connect them to customer needs.

What we offer you

You will join a cross-functional venture environment where commercial, scientific and strategic perspectives come together. The role offers broad exposure to external partners and customers, the opportunity to shape emerging business opportunities, and meaningful responsibility for initiatives that support the Venture’s growth.

Working conditions

The role follows a hybrid way of working. Travel is expected as part of external partnership development, customer engagement, conferences, and industry events, with an estimated 20-40 travel days per year.

Application deadline
