Business Development Representative – Buy Side
London | Hybrid
£40,000–£50,000 base | £70,000–£80,000 OTE + Benefits
Certus Recruitment is partnering with an award-winning financial software business providing investment analytics, portfolio construction, due diligence and reporting solutions to financial institutions globally.
With an established international client base, our client is looking to appoint a Business Development Representative to generate new opportunities and build a strong pipeline across EMEA, APAC and the US.
The Opportunity
This is a business development role, not a closing sales position. Initially, your focus will be on outbound prospecting, discovery calls, qualifying interest, nurturing prospects and booking high-quality meetings for the senior sales team.
Working closely with the Head of Sales, you’ll develop your knowledge of the software, clients and investment markets, with a clear opportunity to progress into a full sales role over time.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Researching and identifying prospective customers across international markets.
- Cold calling and running multi-channel outreach campaigns.
- Conducting discovery calls and qualifying prospective buyers.
- Following up consistently to nurture prospects and build pipeline.
- Booking product demonstrations and maintaining accurate CRM records.
- Developing relationships with investment professionals and senior decision-makers.
What We’re Looking For
- 12–18 months' experience in an SDR, BDR or similar outbound business development role.
- Proven experience prospecting into the buy side, including investment managers, hedge funds, asset allocators, pension funds or fund selectors.
- Experience selling technology, data, research or related services to these audiences.
- Confident telephone skills, strong follow-up habits and a commercially driven approach.
- Ambition to develop into a full sales role.
Relevant buy-side prospecting experience is essential. Candidates from unrelated markets or without experience engaging these financial services audiences will not be considered, as an understanding of the investment industry and its clients is required from day one.
Package & Benefits
- £40,000–£50,000 base salary.
- £70,000–£80,000 OTE with uncapped commission potential.
- 24 days' holiday plus bank holidays.
- Private pension, Perkbox benefits and cycle scheme.
- Central London office with hybrid working following successful probation.
This is an opportunity to join an established international FinTech business, develop specialist market knowledge and build a long-term career in financial software sales.
Please note: Applications without the required buy-side business development experience will be unsuccessful.
