Position Summary

The Business Development Specialist provides administrative, operational, and research support to the Business Development team. This role assists with donor and prospect engagement activities, fund onboarding, prospect research, reporting, and data management while helping ensure a positive experience for donors, advisors, and partners.

The successful candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, and service-oriented, with strong communication skills and a collaborative approach. This position requires someone who is conscientious, dependable, and able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy, professionalism, and attention to detail. Business Development Specialist works closely with cross-functional teams to support donor needs, facilitate onboarding activities, and contribute to the organization's growth and business development objectives.

Business Development & Donor Support
  • Support the Business Development team in day-to-day activities related to prospect, donor, and advisor engagement.
  • Assist with the processing and tracking of single-gift opportunities and donor inquiries.
  • Help prepare materials, presentations, and follow-up communications for meetings and outreach efforts.
  • Support stewardship activities and help ensure timely, professional responses to donor and advisor inquiries.
  • Maintain a positive, service-oriented approach when interacting with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Escalate questions, concerns, or issues appropriately and assist in coordinating follow-up actions.

Fund Onboarding & Internal Coordination
  • Assist with the onboarding of new donor-advised funds and other services.
  • Coordinate the collection, organization, and tracking of required documentation.
  • Monitor onboarding and single-gift progress and follow up on outstanding items with prospects and internal teams.
  • Collaborate with Philanthropic Services, Grants Management, Compliance, and other departments to support a smooth donor experience.
  • Ensure donor records and supporting documentation are maintained accurately and consistently.
  • Assist in identifying and resolving routine administrative or process-related issues.

Prospect Research & Data Management
  • Conduct research on prospective donors, advisors, corporations, foundations, and other strategic partners.
  • Compile prospect profiles and briefing materials to support business development activities.
  • Enter, update, and maintain accurate information in CRM and reporting systems.
  • Assist with preparing routine business development reports and activity summaries.
  • Support data cleanup projects and ongoing record maintenance.
  • Help track departmental metrics and business development activities.
  • Review data for accuracy and completeness and identify discrepancies for follow-up.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • 3+ years of relevant experience
