Role Description The buyer role at Dr. Proteomancer is a part-time, remote position responsible for sourcing and purchasing goods and services that support the company’s operations. Day-to-day tasks include identifying and evaluating suppliers, requesting and comparing quotes, and negotiating pricing and contract terms within established guidelines. The buyer will create and process purchase orders, monitor delivery timelines, and resolve order or invoicing discrepancies in coordination with internal stakeholders and vendors. This role also involves maintaining accurate purchasing records, tracking inventory levels or recurring needs, and contributing to cost optimization and compliance with procurement policies. The buyer will collaborate with finance, operations, and project teams to ensure timely, reliable supply for ongoing initiatives.
Qualifications

• Strong skills in purchasing, vendor communication, and supplier relationship management.
• Ability to conduct market research, compare pricing and terms, and support basic contract review.
• Proficiency with spreadsheets and purchasing or ERP tools, and comfort working with digital records.
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple requests in a part-time schedule.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with cross-functional teams.
• Experience in procurement, operations, or supply chain is beneficial; familiarity with life sciences or laboratory supplies is a plus.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment, with reliable internet access and time management discipline.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, or a related field preferred, or equivalent practical experience.
