This role works closely with project managers, right-of-way agents, surveyors, engineers, planners, and GIS professionals to develop accurate, high-quality project documentation. While this is a remote position, employees are expected to maintain a work schedule that aligns with California business hours (Pacific Time) and be available for meetings, customer interactions, and team collaboration during those hours.
Essential Responsibilities
- Prepare and revise drawings, exhibits, maps, and technical documents using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- Develop right-of-way exhibits, parcel maps, easement exhibits, alignment sheets, and utility exhibits.
- Incorporate survey, engineering, title, and field-collected data into CAD drawings.
- Create and maintain GIS layers, maps, and spatial databases using ArcGIS.
- Convert GIS data into CAD-compatible formats and vice versa.
- Support project teams with mapping, research, and document preparation.
- Review drawings for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with company standards.
- Organize and maintain project files, drawing libraries, and GIS records.
- Coordinate with engineers, planners, surveyors, and project managers to meet project schedules.
- Assist with aerial imagery, parcel mapping, land ownership mapping, and utility corridor research.
Qualifications
Required
- Associate degree or technical certification in Drafting, CAD Technology, GIS, Engineering Technology, or related field.
- Strong AutoCAD skills with a minimum of 2 years drafting experience.
- Basic to intermediate ArcGIS knowledge.
- Prepare, interpret, and translate legal descriptions, easements, rights-of-way, plats, and survey data into accurate CAD and GIS-based drawings and maps.
- Analyze and draft from both modern and historical legal descriptions, including descriptions that reference ranchos, natural geographic features, riverbanks, canals, fencelines, tree groves, and other legacy boundary markers where surveyed benchmarks may not be available.
- Utility, ROW, surveying, engineering, planning, telecom, renewable energy, or land development experience.
- Strong attention to detail and quality control.
- Ability to interpret engineering, survey, or land-related documents.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
Preferred
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Experience with ArcGIS or ESRI products.
- Experience working with survey data, parcel data, utility data, or right-of-way projects.
- Familiarity with land development, transportation, utilities, renewable energy, telecommunications, engineering, or infrastructure projects.
- Experience preparing exhibits, easements, or right-of-way mapping products.
