Job Description:

Our purpose is to deliver energy to the world, today and tomorrow. For over 100 years, bp has focused on discovering, developing, and producing oil and gas in the nations where we operate. We are one of the few companies globally that can provide governments and customers with an integrated energy offering. Delivering our strategy sustainably is fundamental to achieving our ambition to be a net zero company by 2050 or sooner!

Treasury is committed to delivering competitive financing, risk management and capital solutions for bp and its businesses. Capital Advisory & Structured Finance (CASF) is the Treasury team focused on funding and structuring, financial advisory, arranging external financing including limited and non-recourse financing and assurance for bp businesses, legal entities and M&A transactions. The team enables group strategy by bringing funding, advisory and liquidity expertise and support to individual bp businesses, delivering additional capital when required, consistently optimising balance sheets and performing transactions with excellence.

CASF is a global team of corporate treasury and structured finance expertise split across Houston, Singapore and London.

About the role

As a coordinator in the London team, you will support colleagues across CASF in delivering bp's internal and external funding activity. Working alongside experienced advisors, you will help prepare the analysis, documentation and approvals behind intercompany loans, equity injections and other group funding structures, coordinate inputs from Tax, Legal and Accounting, and help keep transactions moving to timetable.

Beyond individual transactions, you will coordinate closely with the Directors and VP CASF, tracking the pipeline and deliverables, maintaining team data, and improving processes and controls through digital and AI tools. You will also support briefings and recommendations for senior Treasury and business leadership, taking greater ownership of transactions as your experience grows. This provides broad exposure across bp’s portfolio and a strong foundation in internal funding and structured finance.

Key Accountabilities

  • Supporting CASF colleagues across a wide variety of business-derived transactions and group funding initiatives, providing the analysis, documentation and coordination needed to move each one from request to completion;
  • Working closely with bp's businesses - Upstream, Downstream or Supply, Trading & Shipping — to support their growth and manage the financial risks and exposures of their investments;
  • Working with colleagues in tax, legal and accounting on changes to bp's corporate structure and the funding needs of its entities and joint ventures;
  • Preparing and seeking approval for Structured Finance Notes (SFNs) and associated documentation (inter-company guarantees, loans, IFAs and similar) to complete Treasury's Delegation of Authority for specific transactions;
  • Supporting the team's relationships with banks, multilaterals and other capital providers, including reviewing information packs, responding to requests and maintaining a record of market intelligence gathered by the team;
  • Tracking the team's pipeline, results and records, and helping implement improvements to CASF's ways of working, including the use of digital and AI tools to automate routine tasks and improve data quality; and,
  • Playing an active role in the wider Treasury and Tax community, supporting broader Treasury initiatives and contributing to team development, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.

We are seeking individuals with

  • A relevant bachelor’s degree with experience working in a corporate finance function or financial services environment (preferred);
  • An interest in learning and understanding corporate finance theory, banking, financial risk management and wider Treasury;
  • Good knowledge of oil & gas and/or energy businesses;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Digitally minded, with experience in using Microsoft tools/ applications and a desire to use AI and other technology solutions to improve processes;
  • Organized with a strong attention to detail; and,
  • Self-starter, able to work in a flexible manner both independently and as part of a distributed team.
