Introduction

Build the resilience capabilities that help WB COO navigate change, disruption and an increasingly AI-first operating environment. As CoE Lead Resilience & Control, you will set the strategy, direct the transformation portfolio and lead expert teams to deliver sustainable enterprise-wide change.

The team

You will join the COO Wholesale Banking (WB) organisation, a global operations and transformation organisation supporting ING Wholesale Banking worldwide. The organisation focuses on operational excellence, digital transformation, scalable delivery and strong risk management in support of ING’s strategic ambitions.

You will lead the Centre of Expertise for Resilience & Control within Scalable & Digital Operations. The Centre of Expertise partners with COO product organisations, regions, Technology and tribes to strengthen organisational resilience and deliver complex transformation initiatives.

The role reports hierarchically and functionally to the Lead Scalable & Digital Operations and is part of the Scalable & Digital Operations Management Team. You will lead nine direct reports and four indirect reports, while providing functional direction to approximately 70 colleagues.

Roles and responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for strengthening resilience capabilities, coordinating priorities, driving change and providing oversight across Wholesale Banking.

  • Support countries in implementing resilience requirements, including scenarios, playbooks, testing, crisis management activities and third-party resilience measures.
  • Promote consistent adoption of global resilience frameworks, controls and methodologies while balancing local regulatory requirements and business needs.
  • Build a strong international resilience and ODCR network, foster knowledge sharing and apply lessons learned across countries.
  • Gather feedback, identify emerging risks and implementation challenges, and convert them into practical improvement opportunities.
  • Identify structural resilience enhancements and bring them to Critical Business Service Owners and CBS IT Owners.

Coordinate priorities and drive change

  • Translate global resilience and ODCR priorities into a clear Wholesale Banking implementation roadmap.
  • Align resilience initiatives with local business priorities and support prioritisation based on risk, business impact and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide challenge, insight and Wholesale Banking feedback to inform resilience strategy and decision-making.
  • Ensure frameworks and controls are practical, understandable and implementable within Wholesale Banking.
  • Initiate and drive structural improvement initiatives, escalating recurring issues and recommending enhancements where required.

Provide oversight and transparency

  • Maintain oversight of resilience maturity and implementation progress across countries.
  • Monitor adoption, identify key risks and themes, and provide regular reporting and insights to senior stakeholders and governance bodies.
  • Drive improvements in resilience data quality and promote consistent use of available tooling to strengthen reporting and metrics.

How to succeed

We hire smart people like you for your potential. Our biggest expectation is that you’ll stay curious. Keep learning. Take on responsibility. In return, we’ll back you to develop into an even more awesome version of yourself.

  • A Master’s degree or equivalent academic qualification in Business Administration, Organisational Change, Management, Strategy, Finance, Technology or a related field.
  • Ten to fifteen years of broad leadership and transformation experience in complex organisations.
