Internship – Business Control Retail
“Ready to turn numbers into real business impact? Join our Retail Business Control team, work at the heart of Finance and Commerce, and see your insights shape decisions for some of the Netherlands’ best-known brands.”
The internship
Are you interested in Finance, data analysis and the commercial dynamics of the retail market? During this internship, you will support the Retail Business Control team in monitoring performance and turning financial and commercial data into clear business insights. You will work closely with Finance and commercial colleagues, contribute to reporting and forecasting, and help identify opportunities to improve results and ways of working.
Your main activities will include:
• Analysing retail sales, volume, revenue, margin and cost performance.
• Supporting month-end closing procedures, periodic reporting and forecasting activities.
• Investigating trends and variances and translating them into clear insights.
• Improving dashboards, reporting tools and financial processes.
• Collaborating with Retail Business Control, Sales and other Finance teams.
Your new team and workplace
You’ll join the Retail Business Control team, where Finance meets the fast-moving world of Retail. Things can get hectic, priorities shift quickly and pricing is anything but simple—with promotions, customer agreements, costs and margins all connected. Together with Finance, Sales and international business services colleagues, you’ll turn complex data into clear insights that support real decisions. From day one, you’ll be encouraged to speak up, ask bold questions and take ownership of your assignment. Your fresh perspective matters, and the team will support you in turning ideas into practical improvements with visible impact.
During your internship, you’ll have every opportunity to get to know HEINEKEN as an organization, not just within your own team, but across departments. We trust and empower you to work with an entrepreneurial mindset. At HEINEKEN, we love bringing the outside world in and welcome fresh, new ideas with open arms. Of course, we’ll make sure you get the guidance that suits you.
What a day in the internship could look like
No two days are exactly the same. You might kick off by checking the latest retail results with the team, then dive into the data to spot trends and find out what is driving performance. Next, you could connect with Finance or commercial colleagues to share ideas and turn your analysis into useful insights. After lunch, you focus on your own internship project—perhaps improving a dashboard, process or control. You will have the freedom to take ownership, ask questions and test new ideas, with support when you need it. You wrap up by sharing progress and setting your priorities for tomorrow.
The unique you!

• You have an interest in financial processes, internal controls and process improvement.
• You have an analytical mindset and are comfortable working with data. Experience with Excel or Power BI is a plus.
• You communicate clearly, work independently and enjoy collaborating in an international environment.
Even if you feel you don’t meet all the criteria, we encourage you to apply. An internship is the perfect opportunity to learn and grow!
