What you will do: As Chief Accountant, you will lead a team of accounting professionals and oversee the company's accounting, reporting, compliance, and control activities. You will work closely with the Finance Director and business stakeholders, ensuring that financial processes support both local requirements and global standards. Your responsibilities will include: Lead, coach, and develop a team of 3 accounting professionals, fostering a high-performance and collaborative work environment. Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting. Ensure compliance with local statutory requirements, Group reporting standards, and internal accounting policies. Coordinate the consolidation of the Romanian subsidiary into the Hungarian financial statements. Support and coordinate SOX compliance activities, internal controls, and audit processes. Oversee inventory accounting, fixed asset accounting, payroll accounting entries, and related reconciliations. Review and coordinate tax returns, statutory filings, and regulatory reporting. Maintain effective relationships with auditors, tax authorities, banking partners, and external advisors. Support the optimization of financial processes and ensure data integrity across financial systems, including SAP and Oracle. Partner closely with local and regional stakeholders, providing financial insights and supporting business decision-making. Act as a trusted advisor to the Finance Director on accounting, reporting, and compliance matters. University degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. Certified Chartered Accountant / Registered Accountant qualification; Tax Advisor certification is considered an advantage. Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in a supervisory or team leadership role. Strong knowledge of financial accounting, statutory reporting, taxation, and internal controls. Fluency in Hungarian and English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong systems knowledge, including SAP and MS Office; experience with SAP S/4HANA, Oracle, and consolidation processes is considered an advantage. Proven leadership, people management, coaching, and team development skills. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet strict deadlines. Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
