THE ROLE
As Chief Financial Officer, you will be the strategic and commercial partner to the CEO, ensuring visibility of financial performance and underlying drivers of revenue, margin, profitability and return on capital. Leading a team of c. 12-15 (4 direct reports, c. 8 indirect), your role will be to balance the commercial priorities of the organisation with financial governance, strategy and shareholder expectations.
Strategic and Commercial Leadership
- Key member of the executive team, contributing to business strategy and providing commercial and financial leadership across growth, profitability and capital allocation
- Translate strategy into financial objectives, plans and measurable targets, and provide constructive challenge to assumptions
- Evaluate the financial implications of strategic initiatives, investments and changing market conditions
Performance Management, Planning and Forecasting
- Own the performance management framework, leading regular reviews against budget, forecast and strategic objectives
- Own driver-based planning and forecasting, covering loan origination, pricing, funding costs, credit performance and operating costs
- Deliver management reporting that surfaces underlying drivers, trends and risks, with clear accountability for variances
Pricing, Product and Capital Allocation
- Provide executive oversight of pricing, balancing growth, margin, risk, funding economics and shareholder returns
- Ensure major investments and initiatives are backed by rigorous business cases and post-investment reviews
- Own the capital and cash management framework, with a strong understanding of warehouse and securitisation funding and its impact on profitability and liquidity
Financial Control, Risk and Regulatory
- Maintain a strong control environment, including accurate and timely management and statutory reporting, audit, tax and reconciliations
- Own financial risks within the Finance mandate, working closely with Credit, Risk and Treasury
- Ensure compliance with AFSL financial requirements and APRA reporting obligations
Stakeholder Management & Transformation
- Act as the senior financial representative of the business with internal and external stakeholders, presenting to and engaging with board members and committees as required
- Provide clear, concise and commercially relevant financial analysis that helps directors and senior executives understand performance, outlook and key decisions
- Ensure executive leadership have clear visibility of performance, outlook, capital requirements and material financial risks
- Support the CEO in communicating financial performance, outlook and strategic priorities to the board
- Lead the Finance transformation agenda, driving automation, data quality and practical adoption of AI
- Build and develop a high-performing, commercially minded, multi-site Finance team
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
We are seeking an experienced senior finance leader with extensive lending experience. You will have:
- Demonstrated ability to operate as a strategic and commercial partner to the CEO in a lending environment (either bank or non-bank)
- Strong understanding of lending economics and the interaction between growth, pricing, margin, funding costs, credit performance, capital and shareholder returns
- Deep FP&A and commercial finance experience combined with strong financial control and governance
- Experience engaging with Boards and Board Committees
- A practical understanding of securitisation, warehouse funding structures and their impact on capital, liquidity and profitability
- Experience in a high-growth environment
- Demonstrated ability to lead & develop high performing finance teams
- CPA/ CA qualification
