The Opportunity
One of Australia’s leading property investment vehicles with a multi-billion dollar portfolio of assets, our client has recently undertaken a strategic realignment of its finance function to support its next phase of growth.
Reporting directly to the CFO, this is a broad and influential role with responsibility for the performance of the finance function and a mandate to strengthen reporting, controls, planning and commercial insight across the organisation.
The Challenge
The role provides genuine breadth across financial control, FP&A, tax, property accounting, treasury, capital management, governance and transactions, making it an attractive opportunity for a senior finance leader looking to operate at the centre of a sophisticated listed property business. Specifically, responsibilities will include:
- Lead the delivery of high quality statutory, management and financial reporting
- Further strengthen financial controls, governance and risk frameworks within a listed and regulated environment
- Drive the budgeting, forecasting and long-range planning agenda, providing meaningful insight to the executive team and Board
- Partner with fund management and asset management to enhance portfolio performance and decision making
- Oversee property accounting and improve the quality, consistency and efficiency of property financial information
- Support acquisitions, disposals, developments, refinancing and other strategic capital initiatives
- Lead tax, finance operations, sustainability reporting and broader finance transformation initiatives
- Build capability, accountability and succession depth across the finance team
- Develop strong relationships with the investors, lenders, auditors, advisers, board and regulators
The Expertise
This opportunity is appropriate for a finance executive with proven listed experience in a property/infrastructure/funds management/real assets environment. To excel in this, you will most likely possess:
- CA/CPA qualified, ideally gained at PwC, Deloitte, EY, KPMG or a leading tier 2 CA firm
- Significant financial leadership experience
- Strong technical accounting, financial control, governance and risk capabilities
- Corporate tax compliance and planning experience
- A track record of leading and developing high performing multidisciplinary finance teams
- Sound understanding of treasury, funding and capital management
- The presence and communication skills to successfully support and report to CFO and board
- Proven capability to develop and lead high-performance teams
- High achievement drive, with a genuine focus on developing people while remaining a hands-on leader
- Experience across debt markets, banking relationships, M&A or capital transactions will be viewed favourably
