Dutch-speaking CISO (Contract) - Brussels (Hybrid)

A leading organisation in a regulated environment is looking for an experienced Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to drive cybersecurity strategy, governance, and cyber-risk management. This is a hands-on leadership assignment focused on Security by Design, compliance, and enterprise risk-rather than day-to-day technical operations.

Contract details

• Duration: 12 months
• Location: Brussels, Belgium (some travel across Belgium may be required)
• Hybrid: 2-3 days onsite per week
• Start: Around Monday 2 November 2026
• Language: Fluent Dutch (must-have) + strong English (French is a plus)

What you'll be doing

• Own and operationalise the cybersecurity strategy, roadmap, governance and target operating model
• Run/strengthen the ISMS (policies, standards, practical controls)
• Embed cyber risk into Enterprise Risk Management and maintain the risk register
• Lead programme governance, define KPIs/KRIs, and report to senior stakeholders
• Coordinate audits, maturity/gap assessments, and remediation follow-through
• Oversee security incidents from a 2nd line perspective (RCA, lessons learned, structural improvements)
• Strengthen third-party / supplier risk and security requirements for outsourcing & cloud
• Drive security awareness and culture initiatives across the business

What we're looking for

• 10+ years in cybersecurity / infosec / risk / governance leadership
• Proven senior advisory/leadership experience across multi-year security transformation
• Strong knowledge of ISO 27001, GDPR, NIS2 and risk-based security governance
• Enough technical depth to challenge pen tests, security assessments, and risk analyses
• Strong exec-level communication: translating threats into clear business impact & decisions
• Exposure to cloud/data/AI/digital transformation is a strong advantage
