Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Closet CAD Designer to join our remote team. The ideal candidate will have strong technical drafting skills and experience creating accurate 2D/3D closet layouts, elevations, floor plans, and manufacturing-ready drawings. This role focuses on translating design requirements and measurements into precise technical plans, reviewing drawings for spatial and manufacturing accuracy, validating material and hardware specifications, and ensuring all designs meet quality standards before production.

Key Responsibilities

• CAD Design & Technical Drafting: Create detailed 2D/3D closet layouts, elevations, floor plans, and technical drawings based on project requirements and measurements.
• Design Review & Quality Assurance: Review custom closet layouts, drawings, and cut lists to verify dimensional accuracy, clearances, structural feasibility, and manufacturing compliance.
• Quote & Material Validation: Review quotes, bills of materials (BOM), and hardware specifications against design plans to ensure accurate pricing and prevent material or ordering discrepancies.
• Manufacturing Readiness: Ensure technical drawings and supporting documentation are complete, accurate, and ready for manufacturing and installation.
• Technical Problem-Solving: Identify drafting errors, measurement inconsistencies, and potential production issues, and recommend appropriate corrections.
• Design Standards & Documentation: Follow company CAD standards, catalog specifications, and standard operating procedures while helping improve design templates and documentation.
• Designer Support: Provide technical guidance and constructive feedback to other designers when needed to improve drafting accuracy and consistency.

QualificationsMust-Haves

• Educational Background: Degree or diploma in CAD Drafting, Interior Design, Industrial Design, Architecture, Engineering, or a closely related field.
• CAD & Technical Drafting Expertise: Experience creating and interpreting technical drawings, 2D/3D layouts, elevations, and detailed design plans.
• Closet & Cabinetry Knowledge: Strong understanding of custom closet systems, cabinetry, interior millwork, space planning, and dimensional requirements.
• Technical Accuracy: Ability to interpret measurements, verify dimensions and clearances, and prepare drawings that meet manufacturing and installation requirements.
• Material & Hardware Knowledge: Ability to interpret material specifications, hardware requirements, cut lists, and bills of materials.
• Attention to Detail: Exceptional precision with measurements, technical drawings, hardware selection, and design documentation.
• Communication Skills: Strong English written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical details clearly and collaborate effectively with team members.
• Availability: Consistent availability during business hours to meet project deadlines and support timely design reviews.

Nice-to-Haves

• Direct experience with KCD Software.
• Experience with AutoCAD or other CAD and 3D design software.
• Working familiarity with Zoho CRM.
• Background working directly with custom closet or cabinet manufacturing and installation teams.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes, material optimization, and installation constraints.
• Experience reviewing technical drawings or providing drafting guidance to other designers.

Work Setup & Schedule

• Position Type: Full-time, remote
• Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM EST
• Hourly Rate: $9.00–$11.00 per hour
• Work Setup: Fully remote, with availability required during Eastern Time business hours.
