Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Closet Design Specialist to join our remote team. The ideal candidate will have strong technical design knowledge and experience with custom closet systems, cabinetry, and space planning. This role focuses on reviewing closet designs and estimates for spatial and manufacturing accuracy, maintaining quality standards, supporting junior designers, and ensuring projects meet company requirements before moving into production.

Key Responsibilities

• Design Review & Quality Assurance: Review custom closet layouts, 2D/3D elevations, floor plans, and cut lists to verify dimensional accuracy, proper clearances, structural feasibility, and manufacturing compliance.
• Quote & Pricing Validation: Review quotes, bills of materials (BOM), and hardware specifications against design plans to ensure pricing accuracy and prevent order discrepancies.
• Designer Training & Onboarding: Support the onboarding and development of junior designers by explaining company design guidelines, catalog specifications, and standard operating procedures.
• Technical Guidance & Team Support: Serve as a subject matter expert, answer design-related questions, resolve technical issues, and provide constructive feedback to improve design accuracy.
• Quality Standards & Compliance: Ensure designs and documentation meet company standards and are complete and accurate before production.
• Process Improvement: Identify recurring drafting and quoting errors and help improve design templates, quality checklists, and workflow documentation.
• Cross-Team Coordination: Collaborate with design, production, and installation teams to address technical issues and help ensure designs are practical to manufacture and install.

QualificationsMust-Haves

• Educational Background: Degree or diploma in Interior Design, Industrial Design, Architecture, or a closely related field.
• Design & Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of custom closet systems, cabinetry, interior millwork, space planning, and spatial ergonomics.
• Plan & Quote Review: Ability to review design plans, technical drawings, measurements, and pricing estimates for accuracy and completeness.
• Quality Control: Strong ability to identify design errors, dimensional inconsistencies, incorrect hardware specifications, and potential manufacturing issues.
• Attention to Detail: Exceptional precision and a commitment to maintaining high standards for measurements, material selections, and order entry.
• Communication Skills: Strong English written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical requirements and provide constructive feedback.
• Availability: Consistent availability during business hours to meet review deadlines and provide timely support to the design team.

Nice-to-Haves

• Direct experience with KCD Software.
• Working familiarity with Zoho CRM.
• Experience mentoring, training, or peer-reviewing junior designers.
• Background working directly with custom closet or cabinet manufacturing and installation teams.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes, material requirements, and installation constraints.

Work Setup & Schedule

• Position Type: Full-time, remote
• Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM EST
• Hourly Rate: $9.00–$11.00 per hour
• Work Setup: Fully remote, with availability required during Eastern Time business hours.
