The Role
We are seeking an experienced Cloud Governance Manager to lead cloud governance strategy, policies, architecture standards, security controls, financial governance, compliance, risk management, and operational oversight across enterprise cloud environments. The ideal candidate will establish practical governance frameworks that enable innovation while maintaining security, regulatory compliance, resilience, performance, and cost control.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement enterprise cloud governance strategies, policies, standards, operating models, control frameworks, and governance roadmaps.
- Establish governance across public, private, hybrid, and multi-cloud environments, ensuring alignment with business strategy, technology architecture, security requirements, and regulatory obligations.
- Collaborate with Cloud Engineering, Enterprise Architecture, Cybersecurity, DevOps, Infrastructure, Data, Application Development, Risk, Compliance, Finance, Procurement, and Executive Leadership.
- Define cloud account, subscription, tenant, resource-group, landing-zone, identity, networking, tagging, logging, monitoring, and resource-management standards.
- Establish cloud architecture review, workload onboarding, technology selection, exception management, risk acceptance, and governance approval processes.
- Develop and maintain cloud reference architectures, security baselines, technical standards, guardrails, control requirements, and cloud adoption frameworks.
- Establish cloud financial governance and FinOps practices covering budgets, cost allocation, tagging, forecasting, optimization, chargeback, showback, reserved-capacity planning, and resource utilization.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) including cloud spend, budget variance, security compliance, policy violations, resource utilization, availability, architecture exceptions, technical debt, governance adoption, and remediation performance.
- Lead cloud risk assessments covering cybersecurity, data protection, regulatory compliance, operational resilience, third-party dependencies, identity management, disaster recovery, and business continuity.
- Establish cloud security governance covering identity and access management, privileged access, encryption, secrets management, network segmentation, logging, vulnerability management, configuration compliance, and security monitoring.
- Coordinate cloud compliance assessments, internal audits, regulatory reviews, security assessments, risk reviews, and third-party assurance activities.
- Develop and maintain cloud governance documentation including policies, standards, control matrices, architecture principles, governance checklists, decision records, exception registers, and operating procedures.
- Establish cloud workload lifecycle governance covering planning, design, deployment, operations, modernization, migration, optimization, retirement, and decommissioning.
- Govern infrastructure-as-code, DevSecOps, CI/CD, automated policy enforcement, configuration management, and cloud platform engineering practices.
- Lead cloud migration and modernization governance, ensuring workloads meet security, architecture, financial, resilience, data, and compliance requirements before migration and production deployment.
- Drive cloud resilience and continuity standards covering backup, disaster recovery, availability zones, geographic redundancy, recovery objectives, incident response, and operational readiness.
- Develop cloud vendor and third-party governance processes covering service evaluations, contractual requirements, risk assessments, supplier performance, exit strategies, and service-level agreements.
- Drive digital transformation through artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted cloud governance, automated policy enforcement, predictive cost analytics, intelligent workload optimization, configuration anomaly detection, and automated compliance monitoring.
- Utilize Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Terraform, Kubernetes, GitHub, GitLab, Azure DevOps, ServiceNow, CloudHealth, Apptio, FinOps platforms, Microsoft 365, Power BI, Tableau, and cloud security technologies.
- Manage cloud governance budgets, consulting services, technology platforms, FinOps programmes, compliance assessments, cloud optimization initiatives, and strategic governance projects.
- Prepare executive cloud governance reports, cost-management dashboards, security and compliance assessments, risk registers, architecture review summaries, migration governance reports, optimization roadmaps, and strategic recommendations for senior leadership.
- Lead, mentor, and develop cloud governance specialists, cloud architects, FinOps professionals, technology risk analysts, security governance professionals, and cross-functional teams while fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, security, transparency, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Cloud Computing, Cybersecurity, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Master's degree in Information Technology, Cloud Computing, Business Administration, Enterprise Architecture, Cybersecurity, or a related field is highly advantageous.
- Professional certifications such as TOGAF, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Azure certifications, Google Cloud certifications, FinOps Certified Practitioner, COBIT, ITIL, CISSP, CISM, or equivalent credentials are preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in cloud governance, cloud architecture, cloud engineering, IT governance, technology risk, cloud security, infrastructure, or related roles.
- At least 2 years of experience managing cloud governance programmes, multi-cloud environments, cloud transformation initiatives, FinOps programmes, security governance, or multidisciplinary technology teams preferred.
- Strong understanding of cloud architecture, governance frameworks, cloud security, identity and access management, compliance, risk management, FinOps, DevSecOps, infrastructure-as-code, resilience, disaster recovery, and cloud operating models.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure, AWS, GCP, Terraform, Kubernetes, GitHub, GitLab, Azure DevOps, ServiceNow, CloudHealth, Apptio, FinOps platforms, Microsoft 365, Power BI, Tableau, and cloud security technologies.
- Familiarity with AI-powered cloud optimization, automated governance, policy-as-code, predictive cost management, intelligent workload placement, cloud security analytics, and autonomous compliance monitoring is highly advantageous.
- Strong leadership, analytical, financial, technical, communication, risk management, stakeholder management, project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple cloud governance initiatives while balancing innovation, security, compliance, cost optimization, performance, resilience, architecture standards, delivery timelines, and business priorities.
- Ability to work effectively in a remote environment with distributed cloud engineering, cybersecurity, architecture, DevOps, infrastructure, data, finance, risk, compliance, and executive teams, with occasional travel for architecture reviews, cloud strategy workshops, audits, vendor meetings, transformation programmes, and strategic planning as required.
