Co-Founder Wanted | Help Build South Africa’s First Anime Studio 🇿🇦

Position: Co-Founder – Business Development, Partnerships & Growth
Location: Flexible / Remote

Would you be up for the challenge?
I'm looking for a co-founder to join me in building what we aim to establish as South Africa’s first dedicated anime studio, bringing African stories to life through Japanese-inspired animation.
Wonderr Studio is a two-year-old business, and since April 2026, I've been actively developing our animation offering, building creative teams, and establishing industry contacts, including connections with Japanese investment companies and animation studios.
We've laid the groundwork. Now, I need the right person to help take the business to the next level.
🎬 The Projects
We have two African-origin stories that we want to bring to life through animation:
1. The Last Painting
An original animated film project that aims to bring a uniquely African story to audiences through anime-inspired storytelling.
2. Majesty: The Two Suns
A second original project that forms part of our ambition to develop African stories for the animation market.
These projects represent more than just animation. They are an opportunity to help build an industry, create opportunities for artists, and bring stories with African roots to a global audience.

🤝 The Role
I'm looking for someone who can complement my skills and take ownership of the business areas where I need additional expertise.
What I'll bring to the table:
➡️Creative leadership, direction, and vision
➡️Talent sourcing and building animation teams
➡️Project management and production
➡️Business systems and technical development
➡️Animation development and creative execution
➡️Existing industry contacts and relationships
What I'd like you to bring:
➡️Business development and client acquisition
➡️Strategic partnerships and relationship building
➡️Funding opportunities, investor relations, and financial strategy
➡️Commercial negotiations and deal-making
➡️Distribution opportunities with streaming platforms, cinemas, and international partners
➡️The ability to help build a sustainable, scalable business alongside me
You don't need to be an animator. I'm looking for someone who understands business, sees the potential in the animation industry, and has the drive and experience to turn an ambitious vision into a functioning, growing enterprise.
🔎 Who Should Apply?
Ideally, you have:
➡️At least five years of relevant professional experience
➡️A background in business development, entertainment, media, film, animation, or a related industry
➡️An established professional network that can help open doors
➡️Strong communication, negotiation, and strategic thinking skills
➡️An appreciation for anime, animation, and original intellectual property
➡️An entrepreneurial mindset and the willingness to help build something from the ground up
Experience working with international markets, particularly Japan and the USA, would be a strong advantage.

The founder is willing to offer 30% equity in the company, subject to formal agreement and the final partnership structure.
