Commissioning & Support Engineer (4178) Apply Overview Salary Range $112,194.00 - $151,792.00 Salary Position Type Full Time Apply Description Position Summary: The Commissioning Engineer is responsible for the startup, integration, and calibration of all subsystems within the Mevion S250 series proton therapy systems. This role combines on-site hands-on commissioning activities with remote preparation, diagnostics, and technical support to ensure optimal system performance and compliance with operational standards. Key Responsibilities Perform system startup, calibration, and integration of all Mevion S250 subsystems, including: Radio Frequency (RF) systems Water Cooling systems Cryogenic systems Beam extraction, size and shape, pointing, charge, energy, and output Patient positioning devices Imaging systems – including planar X-ray and CT subsystems Demonstrate proficiency with beam measurement and diagnostic equipment, including: Scintillators Ion chambers Water tanks Radiographic film Faraday cups Perform system-level verification and documentation in accordance with Mevion quality and safety standards. Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to troubleshoot, test, and optimize performance. Support installation and field service teams during system bring-up, integration, and customer acceptance testing.? Qualifications, Education, and Experience Required: Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering. Preferred Fields: Nuclear, Biomedical, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or Physics. Preferred: Master’s degree in a relevant field. Hands-on electro-mechanical troubleshooting. Experience working with high-energy systems or medical accelerators (preferred). Physical and Environmental Requirements Ability to work in environments involving high magnetic fields, high voltages, radiation, and radioactive materials. May participate in light rigging operations. Must be capable of working in confined spaces and areas requiring the use of a safety harness. Ability to lift up to 20 pounds. Must be able to operate standard office and diagnostic equipment. Occasional requirement to work second shift or extended hours to meet testing and project deadlines. Due to environmental conditions, individuals with pacemakers are not eligible for this role. Travel up to 50% may be required. The hiring range represents what Mevion Medical Systems, Inc. reasonably expects to pay for this position at the time of posting.
