About the Central Texas Food Bank

The Central Texas Food Bank (CTFB) is the largest hunger-relief organization in Central Texas and a proud member of the Feeding America network. From its headquarters in Austin and its distribution hub in Waco, CTFB serves a 21-county region on a mission to increase food access by providing nutritious food, leading hunger and poverty advocacy efforts, and transforming lives through programs, education, and innovative solutions. Through a combination of direct service programs and a network of approximately 250 nonprofit community partners, CTFB supports over 612,000 food-insecure individuals annually. We offer a collaborative and community-focused culture that values Service, Integrity, Dignity, Collaboration and Innovation.

Position Overview
The Community Investment Coordinator helps build lasting relationships between the Central Texas Food Bank and our individual donors through responsive donor service, essential administrative support, and project coordination. This role responds to donor inquiries, maintains accurate donor information, and coordinates assigned stewardship and fundraising initiatives, including direct mail, donor recognition, and engagement with recurring and mid-level donors. Success requires strong attention to detail, consistent follow-through, and the ability to balance daily donor needs with ongoing projects. Through this work, the Coordinator helps grow our community of supporters, ensures donors feel valued, and stewards each contribution as an investment in our community’s well-being

Relationships

The Community Investment Coordinator is a collaborative role within the Resource Development department. The Coordinator reports directly to the Community Investment Manager, receives additional guidance from the Director of Community Investment, and works closely with the full Community Investment team, including another Community Investment Coordinator and the Major Gifts Manager. The role collaborates with Resource Development, Communications, and other Food Bank teams to coordinate and enhance donor communications, gather engaging stories about our work, and connect inquiries with the appropriate staff. The Coordinator has direct contact with donors via phone, email, text, and at in-person events.

  • Develop and maintain engaging content for donor communications, including acknowledgement letters, newsletters, and automated responses, to sustain and strengthen donor relationships.
  • Assist with planning, coordinating, and carrying out donor events, including follow-up activities that support a positive experience for participants.
  • Maintain and update the individual giving communications calendar. Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to coordinate activities, meet deadlines, and support donor engagement.
  • Develop and maintain FAQs and standard operating procedures for donor inquiries and engagement activities to ensure a consistent, effective donor experience.
  • Assist with gathering data and preparing reports to track program results and progress toward team goals.
  • Support CTFB's mission, vision, values, and culture.
  • Perform additional duties as necessary and/or requested.

  • Prior experience in a customer service role, strong customer service skills, and a welcoming, professional approach to working with donors.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly and relate to people of varying ages and backgrounds.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in communications, donor records, and reports.
  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and follow projects through to completion.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision, exercise sound judgment, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and communicate progress, questions, and potential delays.
  • Consistent reliability in providing assigned phone and email coverage during business hours and responding promptly to donor inquiries.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; experience with donor databases or other CRM systems and Canva is a plus.
  • Flexibility when priorities or procedures change and a willingness to learn new systems and methods.

  • Commitment to CTFB’s mission, vision, values, and culture.
  • Display a willingness and desire to work with people from diverse ethnic, socioeconomic and religious backgrounds.
  • Display a commitment to service above all else.
