About Engenious University
Engenious University is the education arm of Engenious. We teach QA and AI testing skills with one goal: our learners' careers actually move — a new job, or the security of growing in the one they have. We don't promise jobs; we promise to stay with people after the course ends.
Our current products:
- AI Testing live course — a demanding 5-week cohort, every weekend, with lots of hands-on practice. 157 graduates so far.
- AI Security course — a newer, advanced live cohort.
- Recorded QA courses — being relaunched now from a plain subscription into a membership: course access plus free events, closed community chats and other member activities.
- Individual mentorships with instructors — launching more of these.
Why this role, why now. Our Discord has about 1,200 members, yet most past learners are disengaged — they open our emails, and that's it. Today community work is reactive: it happens when marketing has time or when an event or sales cycle is running. Marketing needs to focus on demand generation, and our AI Testing Program Manager is focused on instructors and program quality. We need one person who owns the community from the inside, so every learner gets proper care and next year pays off.
The role
As our first Community Manager, you will build the community function from zero and own it end to end. Discord is the center of gravity, but the role is not tied to one platform: it covers LinkedIn, events, alumni relationships and the learner experience wherever it happens.
Your mission: turn a list of past buyers and Discord members into an engaged community that pays attention when we post, shows up to events, shares its wins, and keeps growing with us after a course ends.
What you'll do
Own the Discord community
- Be the go-to person in our ~1,200-member Discord: answer questions, help with issues, and route people to sales, support or instructors.
- Keep activity steady. When engagement drops, bring in marketing or instructors for a post, an AMA or another activation.
- Move learner wins out of closed ~20-person cohort channels into public spaces where the whole community can see and react.
- Shape how new members are onboarded, working with the team building automated welcome messages and email flows.
Re-engage past learners and alumni
- Design and run a plan to re-engage people who finished a course earlier (especially 2025 cohorts) or joined Discord but never bought.
- Stay in regular, personal contact with alumni, so one person coordinates every ask — affiliate, event invite, success story, new course — instead of several people spamming them.
- Spot learners who are stuck and reconnect them with the community or a fitting next step, such as mentorship.
Collect success stories
- Grow our success-story library well beyond the ~10 we know today, out of 157 AI Testing graduates.
- Interview alumni, track their career progress, and hand stories to marketing.
Drive event engagement
- For recurring roundtables, marketing promotes; you make sure registrants understand the event, join the chat and actually attend.
- Co-own the alumni party: bring AI Testing alumni in, collect their stories, and drive turnout.
- Build a community where a single Discord message is enough to get people to show up, with fewer incentive-heavy email pushes.
Build the membership community
- Design the community side of the relaunched membership: closed chats, member events, recurring activities.
- Make sure members of self-paced courses and individual mentorships feel part of the community, not just their own track.
Grow LinkedIn engagement
- Encourage learners and alumni to post about their progress on LinkedIn, and grow our LinkedIn flywheel channel.
- Help turn people who comment on our founder's posts into community members.
- Help define who counts as a community member beyond Discord.
Be the voice of the learner
- Talk to learners and instructors to find real pain points, beyond the leadership view.
- Improve the experience for learners who need a softer approach, so we don't keep only the most driven ones. (In our recent AI Security cohort, 3 of 12 kept pace.)
- Bring website and learning-experience gaps to the product owner, designer and developers.
- Join live sessions occasionally to see what learners experience, and coach instructors on engaging and encouraging students.
- Help assess community platforms (e.g., Discord vs. membership.io, Skool-style formats) as the membership grows.
Support affiliates
- Take over the hands-on, personal side of affiliate relationships that marketing has no time for.
