Apply Job Type Full-time Description We’re now hiring a passionate Campaign Strategist to seek out opportunities and push issues related to companion animals into the media spotlight and public consciousness, waking people up to the facts and our philosophy of how to change exploitive practices. You'll be responsible for seeking out opportunities, strategizing, suggesting, and coordinating various efforts related to companion animals. Past campaigns have included legislation to ban the breeding of French bulldogs and other breathing-impaired breeds (BIBs), creating ads to highlight the suffering of snakes and birds in captivity; educating the public about the dangers of letting cats roam outside; coming up with creative ideas to end the cruel practice of keeping dogs chained outside; working to phase out the use of K9 dogs in dangerous police work; and much more to save lives and prevent cruelty. We’re interested in strategic candidates with creative ideas, motivated to set the vision for companion animal campaign execution and put emerging and underrepresented companion animal issues on the map. If you are a grounded but strategic ideas person looking to truly make a difference, apply here! Position Objective: Suggest thoughtful and creative approaches to important companion animal issues by taking responsibility for keeping an eye on the news and trends, mapping the strategic vision for campaigns, identifying timely opportunities and emerging issues, developing plans, and guiding initiatives from concept to completion Primary Responsibilities and Duties: • Develop campaign outreach and other strategies by identifying target audiences and conducting research to deliver successful outcomes • In collaboration with internal departments and stakeholders, engage in strategic planning aimed at removing animals from exploitative systems, such as dogs from policing and birds/snakes from “pet” stores, incorporating direction from other departments on priority issues • Design well-planned campaigns that address emerging and underrepresented companion animal issues • Recommend compelling campaign messages and vehicles that inspire change across various platforms, including media and social media channels • Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of campaigns and suggest improvements to maximize their impact, adjusting tactics based on performance and outcomes to increase our effectiveness • Monitor emerging stories and trends (e.g., K9 deaths in hot cars) and translate responses into proactive, long-term solutions • Build subject matter expertise in companion animal issues • Cultivate relationships with other organizations, experts, and allies to strengthen campaign reach and credibility • Exercise independent judgment and initiative to define problems, propose solutions, and drive measurable change for animals • Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor Requirements • Five years of related experience required, such as in veterinary, shelter or non-profit operations • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience • This role requires a flexible, forward-thinking leader who can independently develop and implement impactful strategies to address timely companion animal concerns • Proven history of generating creative ideas and applying critical thinking to planning and execution • Ability to build productive professional relationships, encourage collaboration, and work in a solutions-oriented manner to redirect plans when needed • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities • Comfort in a fast-paced work environment • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail • Proven ability to produce exceptional, accurate research and analysis • Thorough knowledge of animal liberation issues and PETA campaigns • Demonstrated ability to make sound judgments, multitask, and work independently • Adherence to a healthy vegan lifestyle • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and follow through • Commitment to the objectives of the organization The hourly pay range for this position is $19.75 - $24.44 per hour. The ultimate hourly pay within this range that will be offered to a qualified candidate will be determined based on the candidate’s experience and the cost of living in the area in which the candidate will live and work. A list of benefits available to qualified employees is available here . Application Deadline: Applications for this position will be accepted until August 21, 2026. We may fill this job opening before the deadline if we find a qualified candidate.
