Complaint Writer

Position Overview:

We are looking for a detail-oriented Complaint Writer to support our litigation team by reviewing case information and evidence, conducting client interviews, researching parties and legal entities, and drafting clear, accurate complaints and case documents. The ideal candidate has strong legal writing and research skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to follow instructions and manage multiple cases.

Position Details:

• Fully Remote
• $9 USD/hour
• Full-Time. Mon – Fri | 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM PST (10:30 AM – 7:30 PM Colombia)

Responsibilities:

• Conduct client calls to clarify facts, verify timelines, gather missing information, identify witnesses, and onboard new plaintiffs when applicable
• Identify potential plaintiffs and verify retainer coverage
• Research property owners, management companies, LLCs, trusts, and other entities to identify and verify potential defendants
• Review and organize case evidence, including photos, videos, messages, emails, repair records, inspections, and government notices
• Build clear factual timelines and analyze habitability issues, including mold, water intrusion, plumbing, electrical hazards, infestations, structural defects, harassment, and retaliation
• Draft Statements of Facts, complaints, and other case documents based on evidence and client interviews
• Research applicable California laws, local ordinances, tenant protections, and case-specific statutes
• Draft client-related forms and verification documents using case information
• Maintain accuracy and attention to detail while managing multiple active cases
• Follow all instructions, guidelines, and updates regarding complaints and required case documents

Requirements:

• Law degree mandatory.
• Advanced English C1 (written and spoken)
• Experience working with U.S. law firms preferred
• Strong legal writing and document review skills
• Experience with civil litigation, legal drafting, and legal research
• Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and analytical skills
