About the job

Conducting Officer, Compliance, Luxembourg

Overview

A growing, international private credit platform is building out its Luxembourg AIFM from the ground up and is hiring a Conducting Officer for Compliance. This is a founding seat. You will own the compliance framework of the regulated platform, make sure its lending and origination activities meet Luxembourg and EU requirements (including those for loan-originating AIFs), and help shape the team around you as the platform scales.

What’s in it for you

  • A genuine ground floor mandate with real ownership of the compliance framework, not a narrow single-function seat
  • Direct influence over how compliance monitoring, conflicts of interest and regulatory engagement are designed from day one
  • Deep exposure to private credit strategies, including direct lending, real estate debt, infrastructure debt and consumer and residential lending
  • Close collaboration with the other founding Conducting Officers across Risk, Portfolio Management and Valuations
  • A board level voice and regular engagement with senior stakeholders and the regulator
  • The chance to build and grow a team as the platform scales
  • A lean, entrepreneurial environment inside a well backed, internationally established group
  • Competitive package reflective of a senior, ownership level mandate, plus bonus and benefits

The Role

As Conducting Officer, you will be responsible for:

Regulatory Oversight and Governance

  • Owning and developing the compliance framework in line with CSSF Circular 18/698, AIFMD and the Luxembourg rules for loan-originating AIFs
  • Providing independent compliance oversight of origination and financing activities
  • Assessing the compliance impact of cross-border activity, starting with the UK and Germany and widening across the EU over time
  • Making sure the governance structure reflects real Luxembourg substance and day-to-day oversight

Supervisory Engagement

  • Acting as the main compliance contact for the CSSF
  • Overseeing regulatory filings, notifications and supervisory correspondence
  • Supporting the Board in its dealings with regulators during the move to a standalone AIFM

Compliance Monitoring and Controls

  • Designing and running the Compliance Monitoring Plan, reflecting a hybrid model of bank partnerships and own origination teams
  • Overseeing the conflicts of interest framework, including alignment with the sponsor group
  • Monitoring marketing and distribution compliance and reviewing delegated arrangements

AML/CFT

  • Overseeing the AML/CFT framework alongside the RC/MLRO functions, with enhanced due diligence suited to mid-market and cross-border lending
  • Maintaining strong counterparty onboarding and monitoring

Across the Role

  • Designing and implementing compliance policies and procedures from scratch as operational functions move into the platform
  • Embedding regulatory requirements in the build of IT, risk, finance and operations
  • Preparing quarterly compliance reports and the annual compliance report for the AIFM Board, and escalating material issues to the Board and the CSSF
  • Helping recruit and build the wider team as headcount grows

The Platform

  • An international investment platform focused on private credit and lending strategies across multiple asset types
  • Currently building out its regulated Luxembourg AIFM
  • Genuine start up dynamics within a well backed, growing group
  • A collaborative environment with close day to day interaction between Portfolio Management, Risk, Compliance and Finance
  • Significant growth ambitions over the coming years

Candidate Profile

We are keen to speak with candidates who:

  • Are an approved Conducting Officer for Compliance, or a senior professional ready to step into that approval
  • Have experience of regulatory dialogue with the CSSF and are comfortable engaging with it at Board level
  • Have exposure to private credit or lending, though strong alternatives backgrounds will also be considered
  • Have set up or substantially built out compliance frameworks, ideally within an in house AIFM, or scaled a regulated entity
  • Are genuinely hands on and comfortable in a lean, early stage environment
  • Are credible and confident with Boards, investment committees and senior executives
