The role
The Configuration and Data Management Officer is primarily responsible for providing engineering Configuration Management (CM) and document and data management services for the Air Traffic Management (ATM) Program and its projects.
The role involves various duties such as engineering baseline identification and management within the CM toolset, support for change, configuration and review boards, support for CM audits, and liaising with project and engineering personal to ensure that data, documentation and media are catalogued, stored and retrievable.
Further, the successful candidate will:
Configuration Management:
- Ensure implementation of CM process aligned with the Saab Global Management System across the ATM Program.
- Coordinate management of engineering data, project documentation and technical media.
- Support the conduct of Configuration Control Boards and manage the outcomes relating to documentation management and configuration management.
- Register, track and report on the progress of approved configuration changes in work products.
- As required, support preparation for physical configuration audits.
- In consultation with engineering stakeholders, create and maintain system and product breakdown structures for the Air Traffic Management System and installed platforms within the program’s configuration management database.
- Prepare and issue Configuration Status Account Reports (CSARs) in accordance with CM plans and procedures.
Data Management
- Responsible for managing the ATM program’s information and documentation registers.
- Receive, register, control and distribute supplier and customer data, documentation and media. Ensure all received technical data is reviewed for acceptance for use by Saab by the relevant project engineering manager.
- Manage the distribution of controlled project data, documentation and media.
- File, index and retrieve records in support of ATM program requirements.
- Prepare, register and dispatch data, documentation and media for delivery or archiving.
- Assist in the preparation of Software Releases by preparing status accounts for the released software.
Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office and a 9-day fortnight will be considered for this role.
About you
Your education, skills and experience will include:
- Industry recognised Configuration and Data Management training or equivalent professional experience.
- Tertiary qualification in a related discipline (Desirable).
- Minimum of 5 years Defence or industry experience in project-based team or product engineering management environment (Desirable).
- Exposure to the ASDEFCON suite of templates and contracting framework (Desirable).
- Understanding of the Configuration Management Standard EIA649C (Desirable).
- Proven ability in effective internal customer liaison.
- High level of computer literacy, specifically proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Experience of specialist configuration management tools and/or engineering data management systems.
- Experience with Configuration Management Database applications – Enterprise Solutions (Desirable).
- Experience in implementing PLM strategies.
- Experience in training users of Configuration Management tools and/or Engineering data management systems.
- Experience with administration of information using SharePoint or other document management system(s).
- Ability to self-manage workload and priorities with minimal support, specifically in the development of new and existing CM and data management processes, workflows and governance.
