Turn your construction experience into a career in scheduling

Join a team delivering complex projects across the country, where you will learn to translate how work gets built in the field into schedules that help teams plan, sequence, and deliver major construction programs.

Company Overview

Connico is a leading national construction consultancy known for its extraordinary team and commitment to superior client service. Founded in 1990, we offer highly specialized consulting services unique to the architecture, engineering, and construction industries. As experts in aviation and transportation, we assist owners, architects, engineers, and planners with cost estimating, scheduling, planning, and project management.

The Opportunity

As a Scheduler 2, you will support the development and analysis of construction schedules while building greater technical proficiency and scheduling judgment. You will work with experienced schedulers to develop work breakdown structures, activities, durations, sequencing logic, schedule updates, and phasing plans for complex projects.

This role is ideal for someone who already has some construction scheduling or planning experience and understands how work happens in the field, but is still developing as a professional scheduler. Your experience may come from a scheduling role or from a field-based background such as project engineering, field engineering, construction inspection, civil engineering, VDC/preconstruction, superintendent support, or construction management.

You do not need to be an advanced Primavera P6 user on day one. You do need to understand construction fundamentals, have some experience planning or tracking construction work, and be ready to develop deeper scheduling expertise.

What You'll Do

Schedule development and execution

  • Assist in developing construction schedules using project scope, drawings, specifications, milestones, known constraints, and input from project teams.
  • Help build and adjust work breakdown structures, activities, durations, sequencing logic, milestones, and schedule assumptions.
  • Support baseline development, progress updates, variance identification, and schedule documentation.
  • Assist with short-term and look-ahead planning as well as longer-term project schedules.
  • Apply construction knowledge to identify realistic sequencing, phasing, access, logistics, and trade coordination.
  • Learn to use quantities, production rates, historical project information, and field input to support schedule development.
  • Build increasing proficiency in Primavera P6 and Connico's scheduling processes.
Drawing review and construction sequencing
  • Review architectural, engineering, and civil drawings and specifications to identify construction activities and sequencing requirements.
  • Recognize basic trade interfaces, phasing requirements, site constraints, and potential sequencing conflicts.
  • Support development of schedule assumptions, milestone summaries, sequencing notes, and client-facing documentation.
  • Participate in site visits and field meetings to understand project conditions, confirm progress, and connect schedule information to actual construction activity.
Collaboration and development
  • Work closely with more experienced schedulers to complete assigned schedule components accurately and on time.
  • Participate in schedule development, update, and reconciliation meetings.
  • Maintain accurate schedule documentation and version control.
  • Communicate questions, potential risks, and field observations to senior team members.
  • Participate in internal technical training, mentorship, and quality reviews.

What You Bring

Required
  • 1-2+ years of construction-related experience that includes exposure to construction scheduling, planning, sequencing, or schedule management.
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, engineering, architecture, or a related field - or equivalent relevant construction experience.
  • Experience contributing to construction schedules, look-ahead plans, phasing plans, progress updates, WBS development, or similar planning activities.
  • Experience with Primavera P6 or another construction scheduling platform.
  • Direct exposure to active construction sites or field construction teams.
  • Foundational understanding of how construction activities, trades, and project phases are sequenced.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic architectural, civil, or engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, curiosity, and willingness to learn.
  • Some travel required: 10-25% (site visits, client meetings, conferences)
Preferred
  • Experience in field engineering, project engineering, construction inspection, civil engineering, VDC/preconstruction, superintendent support, construction management, or a similar field-based role.
  • Experience with construction phasing, sequencing, or look-ahead planning.
  • OSHA construction safety training.
  • Experience with Excel, BIM/VDC software, or construction management platforms.
