Location: UK or Poland (residents only – relocation and sponsorship not provided) Role purpose Content Manager will ensure the safe, compliant and organised storage and management of British Council intellectual property, that the latest versions of content and assets are available to the business, that versioning updates are managed, and that assets are securely managed whilst being easy to access when needed. To ensure rights for relevant assets in the portfolio are effectively managed as well as other assets from third party suppliers. Role context The role is part of a team accountable for the design, development, and performance management of the digital and analogue products that enable the [For Schools / Higher Education / Work] propositions. They ensure the right product mix, quality, and innovation to support the strategic direction set by the Proposition Directors. This team ensures products are commercially viable, scalable, and aligned with technology, delivery, and customer needs. Main accountabilities Content and Asset Management · Works with Learning & Assessment Designers, Content Creation, and Product managers and in liaison with the Taxonomy Lead, ensures that robust processes are followed for the secure storage, retrieval, and version management for content and assets related to English language learning and assessment products · Ensures that the appropriate metadata tags are used for all assets, that appropriate platforms are used for storage, and access to assets is managed with appropriate security to maximise secure reuse of content and minimise risk of loss of British Council or Third party intellectual property. · Manages procurement and contracting of third party content and asset suppliers, and ensures British Council asset use is compliant with the terms of any contract in terms of type of use, number of impressions etc. · Works with internal customers to supply assets for various use cases. · Works with British Council Intellectual property manager to promote best practice around intellectual property in the E&E business · Ensures that across assets used by the British Council put the British Council’s approach to equality, diversity and inclusion and anti-racism into practice through the diversity of subjects represented, and taking into account accessibility requirements. Project management / Commercial and resource management · Develops, trains and embeds tools, systems, supporting documentation and processes within the teams to support best practice around content and asset storage and usage · Monitors and regularly reports on schedules and progress; budgets, forecasted and actual costs; and resourcing for projects requiring assets Customer and market focus · Responds to issues and requests raised by stakeholders in a timely and appropriate manner. Risk and compliance · Working with peers and stakeholders and ensures that the unit adhere to standardized tools, systems and processes. The tools and systems include, but are not limited to, taxonomies and metadata standards, project management, collaboration and communication between project team members; file storage; distribution of files; and various administrative systems related to contract, supplier information, copyright permissions and tenders, templates and guidelines, as well as risk, request, issue and product release logs. · Supports internal monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to maintain effective publishing procedures. Relationship and stakeholder management · Ensures regular and effective communication and smooth working relationships between team members and external suppliers. · Ensures a unified approach across the British Council in relation to product development by collaborating closely with internal stakeholders and teams in the UK and overseas. Leadership and management Plans and prioritises own work activities to ensure effective delivery of diverse responsibilities and programme deliverables. Provides training and development for staff as required, building capacity to meet requirements. Language Requirements Written and verbal fluency in English. Certification and Professional Qualifications Project management qualification (Prince2, Agile, or similar) desirable Education First degree or equivalent qualification/ experience Role specific knowledge and experience Minimum / essential requirements · Experience of content and asset management in the area of digital and print product development · Experience of communicating and collaborating with large, dispersed teams and remote working.
