Contract and Grant Administrator I

Position Summary

Join MSU’s Contract and Grant Administration (CGA) team and help support the University’s research mission! As part of CGA’s Cash Management Group, you’ll help manage the financial lifecycle of sponsored projects, including sponsor reimbursement, financial reporting, and award closeout, while partnering with colleagues across MSU.

The Contract and Grant Administrator I supports the post-award financial administration of an assigned portfolio of sponsored programs, with a focus on direct, federal letter of credit awards. Working under the guidance and oversight of CGA management, the position performs financial reporting, reimbursement, reconciliation, and award closeout activities in accordance with established sponsor and university requirements.

The position reviews award terms and financial activity, prepares sponsor financial reports and reimbursement requests, monitors reporting deadlines and award balances, assists with identifying and resolving financial discrepancies, and completes required financial documentation throughout the life of an award. The position works with awards that may have varying reporting and reimbursement requirements, including partnership and multi-organizational awards.

The Contract and Grant Administrator I position works with faculty, departmental administrators, sponsors, and university partners to address routine financial reporting and reimbursement matters and provide information regarding established sponsor requirements and university procedures. The position also participates in process improvement initiatives, system testing, training, and other special projects.
