Contracts Manager Major and Specialist Repairs

£54,336 per annum + benefits | The Maltings, Bath | Hybrid

Full Time | Permanent | 37 hours per week

Your Expertise. Our Investment. Safer Homes Across the South West.

Help shape the future of major and specialist repairs at Curo. As our Contracts Manager, you'll oversee more than £5m of work a year, with the scope to make homes safer, improve the customer experience and make lasting changes to how we work.

With a team of Project Surveyors, you'll grow our in-house capability, delivering more work ourselves and using external contractors where they add value most. From flood and fire reinstatement to damp and mould and whole-block projects, you'll shape how work is planned, managed and delivered, with the backing to make real changes.

Curo is entering an exciting new chapter, with fresh opportunities to develop our services and our people. If you're a building surveyor, engineer or major works manager who enjoys solving problems, developing teams and turning ideas into results, this is your chance to influence what comes next and grow with us.

What you'll be doing

  • Overseeing major works and specialist repairs so they run safely, on time and to budget, with minimal disruption to customers

  • Managing insurance works after a flood, fire or escape of water, from first visit to completion

  • Making sure Curo's client and Principal Designer duties under CDM 2015 are met on every project

  • Guiding our response to damp and mould, disrepair and HHSRS cases within Awaab's Law timescales

  • Managing contractors and our in-house commercial works team to get the best value from every job

  • Managing your budget, with clear reporting to the Executive Team and boards

  • Working with procurement and business partners within clear processes and governance

  • Running Section 20 consultation with leaseholders on block external works

  • Using complaints, feedback and new technology to improve how we work

  • Coaching and developing your Project Surveyors through regular one-to-ones and reviews

More about you

You might be a building surveyor, engineer, architect, project or asset manager, or already work as a contracts or major works manager. You don't need a housing background. Commercial property, insurance works and other asset-heavy sectors are just as welcome.

You're organised and work well within clear processes. You communicate clearly with everyone from the board to your own team. You think commercially and question how things have always been done. And you never forget that behind every project is someone's home.

Essential:

  • A built-environment qualification such as building surveying, engineering or architecture (for example MRICS or CIOB), or equivalent professional experience

  • Experience of carrying out client duties under CDM 2015 on building and refurbishment works, ideally with experience as a Principal Designer or the ambition to grow into the role

  • Strong technical knowledge of buildings, including building pathology

  • Experience of managing and developing surveyors or other technical professionals

  • Experience of managing contractors on major, specialist or insurance works, including change control and variations

  • Experience of managing a substantial budget with a focus on return on investment

  • Knowledge of damp and mould and the ability to get up to speed quickly with landlords' legal duties, including HHSRS and Awaab's Law

What you'll get in return

Beyond a salary of £54,336 and the chance to make a real difference every day, you'll get:

  • Up to 10% matched pension contribution

  • 26 days annual leave per year (plus bank holidays) rising to 29 days after 3 years

  • Your birthday off as an extra holiday

  • Hybrid working (3 days office, 2 days home)

  • Flexible benefits which might include a Health Cash Plan

  • Access to an Employee Assistance Programme for your own wellbeing
