I. Purpose

The purpose of this position is to support the work of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association’s (ASHA) Continuing Education (CE) Provider Approval and compliance programs. The primary responsibilities for this position include a) supporting the CE Provider approval and re-approval processes, (b) managing communications and documentation related to CE Provider compliance and (c) the maintenance and retention of CE Provider records.

II. Key Responsibilities

  1. Assist Director, CE Standards & Compliance in managing CE Provider recruitment, application processing, approval and reapproval.
  2. Serve as primary point of contact with potential applicants and Providers involved in the reapproval process. Provide consistent, accurate information and support to those interested in becoming and continuing as an ASHA approved CE Provider.
  3. Create and maintain document storage systems for provider applications and reapprovals. Ensure accuracy and integrity of data associated with the provider approval process.
  4. Support the participant appeal process.
  5. Manage and maintain digital products used by organizations seeking approval or re-approval.
  6. Serve on the Ad Review team, reviewing ads mentioning continuing education to ensure compliance with the Standards for ASHA CE Providers and policies.
  7. Participate in projects aimed to continuously improve efficiencies in workflow and service to (a) organizations interested in becoming an ASHA approved CE Provider, (b) organizations undergoing re-approval, and (c) existing Providers.

IV. Autonomy & Decision Making:

The position reports to the Director, CE Standards & Compliance. The incumbent is expected to plan and carry out work activities in close collaboration with other CE team members. The incumbent is required to apply ASHA CE, Association, and National Office policies and procedures and methodology in a consistent, accurate, and timely manner. Broad latitude is given to determine approaches, procedures, and methodology to accomplish work responsibilities. Incumbent uses independent judgment to develop solutions and is given the authority to resolve issues and problems. Work receives administrative review from the Director or CE team members. Specific guidance and review by the coach may be required for special or unusual circumstances.

V. Qualifications & Skills

Qualifications:

Knowledge typically acquired through:

  • 2 to 3 years administrative and coordinating experience, preferably with an accrediting agency or other standards setting and approval body
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

Skills

Demonstrated ability to:

  • Compose business correspondence and standard operating procedures
  • Use database management applications
  • Use Microsoft Office Suite applications
  • Use CRM or similar software
  • Use document management and storage protocols
  • Manage and create digital media content
  • Use relationship-building, empathy, and customer-service skills to gather information about prospective and existing Providers’ goals, programs, and organizational needs to tailor guidance and support. Discretely handle confidential information
  • Exercise maturity, judgement, tact and diplomacy during interaction with internal and external customers
  • Independently initiate, organize, and appropriately prioritize workload with minimal supervision
  • Interact in a professional manner with staff, volunteer leaders, members, and consumers
  • Work collaboratively on a team as well as the ability to lead project teams in work directives
