We are looking for a highly motivated and intellectually curious analyst to help strengthen EQ's portfolio monitoring, risk reporting, and analytical capabilities. This role combines data analysis, reporting, and tool development, with a strong focus on Excel and Power BI-based monitoring and risk management processes.
You will work closely with experienced investment and risk professionals to produce risk reports, maintain monitoring tools, investigate portfolio developments, and improve the quality and efficiency of internal processes. Success in this role requires more than technical skills; it requires critical thinking, ownership, attention to detail, and a genuine willingness to learn and contribute.
Over time, the role offers significant exposure to credit risk management, impact investing, portfolio monitoring, and investment processes across emerging markets.
The Credit Risk Analyst's responsibilities include:
Reporting and Data Quality
- Prepare and maintain periodic product and portfolio-risk reports.
- Collect, reconcile, and validate data used in management and risk reporting.
- Investigate unusual movements, missing information, and inconsistencies.
- Maintain clear supporting documentation and reporting audit trails.
- Support improvements in report quality, consistency, and efficiency.
- Assist with monitoring compliance with fund guidelines, key risk indicators, and relevant loan requirements.
Monitoring and Tools
- Maintain Excel-based monitoring, tracking, rating, and reporting tools.
- Support the design, testing, documentation, and improvement of risk-management tools.
- Monitor covenants, key risk indicators, early-warning signals, ratings, and watch-list information.
- Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, or automate recurring processes.
- Perform reasonableness and consistency checks on tool outputs.
- Follow up with relevant colleagues to obtain or clarify missing information.
Analytical and Team Support
- Prepare analysis and supporting materials for portfolio and risk discussions.
- Document action points and monitor their completion.
- Support selected country, investee, portfolio, and transaction-risk analyses.
- Assist with the preparation and updating of internal procedures, methodologies, and guidance materials.
- Assist in the monitoring and handling of work-out cases, including financial analysis, internal coordination and reporting with different stakeholders.
- Take on broader credit-risk responsibilities progressively, based on demonstrated capability.
Who you are:
- Analytical and intellectually curious, with the confidence to question inconsistent or incomplete information.
- Highly attentive to detail while able to understand the purpose and materiality of the work.
- Proactive, reliable, and willing to take ownership of recurring responsibilities.
- Comfortable performing detailed work and following issues through to resolution.
- Ability to think critically when addressing complex challenges.
- Willing to learn, receive feedback, and progressively assume greater responsibility.
- Able to communicate findings clearly and concisely.
- Comfortable working independently in a remote, multinational environment while escalating issues appropriately.
What you bring:
- Three years of relevant experience in financial analysis, credit risk, investment operations, portfolio monitoring, reporting, banking, or a related field.
- Strong Excel skills, including advanced formulas, pivot tables, lookups, data validation, and data-reconciliation techniques.
- Ability to develop and maintain structured, reliable, and user-friendly reporting tools.
- Sound analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage recurring deadlines and multiple tasks.
- Clear written and spoken English.
- Degree in finance, economics, business, data analytics, or a related field.
Advantageous experience (bonus if you have one or more of the following):
- Exposure to credit analysis, lending, financial institutions, impact investing, or emerging markets.
- Experience with Power Query, Power BI, VBA, or other reporting and data-visualization tools.
- Experience working with portfolio, covenant, or risk-monitoring data.
