Customs Compliance Specialist II

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Customs Compliance Specialist II performs key import and export compliance activities with a high level of accuracy, efficiency, and independence, including managing import and export blocks in the system, communicating with customs brokers regarding ISF and entry requirements, conducting HTS/ECCN classification research, and supporting post-entry work, as needed. The Customs Compliance Specialist II works to minimize disruption to Q’s supply chain by proactively addressing regulatory requirements, identifying compliance risks, and supporting timely issue resolution. This position reports to the Customs Compliance Manager, who reports to the VP of Supply Chain & Global Logistics. The position interacts with departments across Q.

WHAT YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR:

• Conduct pre- and post-entry compliance reviews and communicate directly with customs brokers to ensure proper classification, valuation, manufacturer, and country of origin are reported accurately.
• Support audit assessment programs to ensure the implementation and effectiveness of internal and external controls.
• Conduct product research, assign HTS classifications, and maintain classification records with supporting documentation.
• Support duty and tariff analysis, including Section 301, Section 232, free trade agreement eligibility, TSCA, CPSC, and other applicable trade compliance requirements.
• Prepare and submit pre-entry documentation to customs brokers.
• Maintain customs broker relationships for U.S. and Canada import and export activity.
• Review customs entries and support post-entry corrections, protests, reconciliations, and other customs-related filings, as needed.
• Audit broker invoices, duty statements, and customs-related charges for accuracy; identify discrepancies and coordinate resolution.
• Monitor daily compliance communications and collaborate with customs brokers, carriers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to resolve import/export issues and prevent clearance delays.
• Provide support for Special Order Processing to ensure compliant export shipments.
• Review and manage ISFs to ensure timely and accurate filing.
• Actively participate in CTPAT profile maintenance and related compliance activities.
• Support trade compliance projects, regulatory initiatives, audit readiness, and system enhancements, as assigned.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED:

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in customs compliance, import/export operations, customs brokerage, logistics, or related trade compliance work preferred; or a bachelor’s degree in supply chain, logistics, business, international business, or a related field.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with executives, managers, coworkers, vendors, customs brokers, and service providers.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Advanced knowledge of HTS classification and demonstrated ability to independently research, assign, and support tariff classifications.
• Knowledge of import/export documentation, customs entry requirements, ISF, TSCA, free trade agreements, ECCN, and other trade compliance requirements preferred.
• Proficiency in ACE reporting and customs data analysis, including the ability to generate and review entry summaries, duty data, ISF data, importer activity reports, and other compliance-related reports.
• Experience with ERP, trade compliance, customs broker, or import/export documentation systems preferred.
• Ability to develop ideas, coordinate tasks, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to identify, research, and analyze customs compliance issues.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
• Desire and ability to learn and continuously improve.
• Ability to work successfully with minimal supervision.
