IAM Cloud Engineer - Melbourne | 6-Month Contract | Hybrid Working (3 Days Onsite)

Our client is a leading global technology consulting and cyber security services organisation delivering large-scale cloud, identity and security transformation programs for some of Australia's largest enterprise organisations.

They are currently supporting a major cloud identity and access management initiative within a complex enterprise environment, focused on modernising identity services, strengthening governance controls and implementing Zero Trust security principles across Azure cloud platforms.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced IAM Cloud Engineer to design, implement and secure enterprise identity and access management solutions across Azure cloud environments.

This role will focus on Microsoft Entra ID, Identity Governance, authentication services, access controls and Infrastructure as Code (IaC), helping to deliver secure, scalable and automated identity solutions that support enterprise-wide cloud adoption.

Working closely with security, infrastructure and application teams, you will play a critical role in strengthening the organisation's identity security posture while improving governance, compliance and automation capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Identity & Access Management

• Design, implement and support Microsoft Entra ID services across enterprise environments.
• Manage user lifecycle management processes, authentication services and access controls.
• Configure and support Single Sign-On (SSO), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and Conditional Access policies.
• Develop and maintain secure identity architectures aligned to Zero Trust principles.
• Support onboarding of applications into enterprise IAM and federation platforms.

Identity Governance & Security

• Implement Identity Governance capabilities including access reviews, entitlement management and privileged access controls.
• Develop least-privilege access models across cloud and hybrid environments.
• Monitor, assess and remediate identity-related security risks and compliance issues.
• Support audit, governance and regulatory requirements.
• Strengthen identity security controls across Azure cloud services.

Cloud Engineering & Automation

• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) deployments using Terraform.
• Automate identity and access management processes wherever possible.
• Support cloud-native IAM capabilities across Azure IaaS and PaaS environments.
• Contribute to operational excellence and ongoing platform improvements.
• Produce technical documentation, architecture diagrams and operational procedures.

Collaboration & Delivery

• Work closely with security, infrastructure and application teams.
• Support integration between cloud and on-premises identity platforms.
• Contribute to cloud security assessments and security improvement initiatives.
• Participate in architecture reviews, project delivery and technical planning activities.
• Provide guidance and technical expertise to project and operational teams.

The Successful Candidate

You will be an experienced cloud identity specialist with strong Microsoft identity expertise and a passion for secure, automated cloud solutions.

Essential Experience

• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD).
• Experience delivering Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions within enterprise environments.
• Experience implementing and managing SSO, MFA and Conditional Access.
• Strong understanding of Identity Governance, access reviews and entitlement management.
• Experience implementing privileged access controls and least-privilege models.
• Experience developing Infrastructure as Code solutions using Terraform.
• Strong understanding of hybrid identity architectures and federation services.
• Experience supporting Azure cloud environments.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication capability.

Highly Regarded

• Experience within large enterprise, telecommunications or financial services environments.
• Exposure to Azure IaaS and PaaS security controls.
• Experience with cloud security assessments and governance programs.
• Knowledge of Zero Trust security principles and modern identity frameworks.
• Microsoft security and identity certifications.
• Experience working within consulting or professional services environments.
