About Macromill
Macromill is a leading company in onlineresearch and marketing research. Byleveraging online survey data and consumerpurchase data, we help businesses betterunderstand consumer needs and behaviour, enabling them to make smarter marketingdecisions.
To support our next stage of growth, we areundergoing a major technologytransformation. We are rebuilding ourplatforms with modern technologies and apowerful data foundation to deliver faster, more accurate, and more scalable marketingresearch solutions.
About the Data Department
The Data Department owns Oasis,Macromill's data platform. Our vision is forOasis to be the single foundation the wholecompany builds on: one place where data istrustworthy, governed, and ready to becomeproducts and decisions. The platform is liveand the business already runs on it. Nowwe're taking it from a working platform to thatfoundation, built on three pillars —
- DataGovernance
- Data Democratisation
- Data Monetisation
This role is where thatnext chapter starts.
Responsibilities
Turn Oasis into the data platform thebusiness can count on and every otherservice can build on. Own its roadmap andvision, and bridge the business andengineering so that business goals turn intothe right things to build.
Set the Vision and Own the Roadmap
Decide where Oasis is going and in whatorder. Turn business goals and engineeringconstraints into one prioritised roadmap, andown the trade-offs. Work with leadership toturn big, vague ideas — "we need better dataaccess," "this should be a real platform" —into concrete, sequenced plans.
Bridge Business and Engineering
Partner with business stakeholders tounderstand the goal behind a request, notjust the feature they ask for. Work withengineering to turn it into technicalrequirements, propose the right solution, andguide requests that wouldn't solve theunderlying problem toward ones that do.
Make Data Trusted and Easy to Use
Define what "finished, reusable" data lookslike, who can produce and consume it, andthe access and reuse rules around it. Specifyself-service access so teams can find anduse governed data without a bespokeengineering ticket.
Bring the Remaining Legacy Tools onto thePlatform
Lead the move of the remaining legacyanalytics tools and workflows onto Oasis: setpriorities with business teams, plan thecutover, and keep operations runningthroughout.
Build a Platform Others Can Rely On
Keep Oasis coherent as it grows: decidewhen a team needs its own environment andwhen the platform should serve the need, and route new capability requests onto theroadmap instead of patching them one byone. Explore the "data as a product" direction— what data or capability could be packagedfor other business units or externalcustomers.
Why Join Us?
Own a Platform That Matters
Oasis holds rare, high-value consumer data— survey responses and purchase history —and the business already runs on it. What youdecide directly shapes how fast Macromillmakes decisions and grows, and helpsMacromill's data products go from proof ofconcept to business scale.
Shape What Comes Next
Governance, self-service access and datamonetisation are open problems, and yourjudgment decides the answer. Monetisationcould turn data into a product Macromilloffers beyond its own walls.
Join a Global, Multicultural Team
Engineers across Tokyo, Fukuoka, Vietnamand India work remote-first, meet regularly inperson, and believe good ideas can comefrom anywhere.

Who are we looking for
A Persuader Who Proposes and ChampionsIdeas
Hears "we need better data access" andarrives with a scoped proposal, then buildsthe case and brings people along. Turns aplatform vision into a story that engineers, business leaders and executives can all rallybehind, adapts the message to eachaudience, steers discussions toward adecision, and is candid and constructiveenough to reshape an ask into the right fix.
A Stakeholder Manager Who Earns Trust,Up to the Executive Level
Keeps many stakeholders with competingpriorities aligned. Listens first, understandsthe goal behind a request, and is candidabout trade-offs. Negotiates with seniorleaders as an equal: frames decisions and asks concisely, holds a position respectfullyunder pressure, and leaves withcommitments, not just nods. Relationshipsstay strong even after a "not now".
Credible with Both Business andEngineering
Equally credible with a business leader andan engineering lead. Technical enough tochallenge a design and explain it plainly, andat home moving between Japanese andEnglish, so no translator is needed.
Product-Minded, Platform-First
Treats the platform as a product: success iswhether the people building on it get whatthey need, and every recurring request is achance to build something many teams canreuse rather than another patch.
