Job Title: Data Verification Associate

Monthly Pay: $3,484 - $5,204 USD per month

Summary:

Each shift begins with a queue of entries waiting to be checked against approved reference information. You verify internal reference tables, correct permitted errors, and flag inconsistencies so colleagues can use dependable information. The position sits within the data operations team and works under a data operations team lead. You work with request owners and administrative colleagues to clarify unclear entries and return completed checks. This fully remote position lets you work from home in Alabama, United States. The role requires a 40-hour weekly commitment. Working days and shift times may vary.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Review incoming verification requests in a project management tool such as Trello, checking assigned priorities, reference sources, and instructions before starting each item.
  • Compare submitted entries with approved reference lists, checking department names, location codes, project identifiers, and other assigned fields for accuracy and completeness.
  • Use a spreadsheets and data entry tool such as Google Sheets to sort assigned entries, locate blanks, and compare values without changing unrelated information.
  • Look up existing entries through a database application such as Microsoft Access, using established searches to confirm whether matching information already exists.
  • Identify duplicate entries, inconsistent formats, and conflicting values, distinguishing straightforward corrections from questions that need clarification before any change is made.
  • Correct permitted errors according to written instructions, preserving reference identifiers and entering concise notes explaining the source and reason for each change.
  • Send focused questions to request owners when information is missing, and track pending responses so unresolved entries remain visible to the team.
  • Escalate conflicting sources, unclear correction instructions, or repeated discrepancies to the data operations team lead rather than guessing or making unsupported changes.
  • Recheck completed entries before returning them; quality is judged by accuracy, turnaround, complete notes, and consistent follow-up on outstanding questions.
  • Finish the shift by updating request statuses, summarizing unresolved issues, and leaving clear handoff notes so the next colleague can continue the work.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • No experience required; related experience in data entry, spreadsheet checking, or administrative verification is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of how reference sources, required fields, duplicate entries, and consistent formats affect the usefulness of operational information.
  • Familiarity with spreadsheet sorting, filtering, and simple comparisons, with willingness to learn established verification steps and seek help when uncertain.
  • Ability to use basic database searches and distinguish matching entries from similar entries without making unsupported assumptions.
  • Clear written communication for clarification requests, correction notes, and handoffs, plus careful reading of instructions and reference material.
  • Reliable computer, high-speed internet, and quiet private workspace suitable for concentrated, desk-based work and remote team communication.
  • Availability for the 40-hour weekly commitment and agreed working days and shift times, including dependable participation in scheduled training.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.

Perks & Benefits:

  • Fully remote work from home in Alabama, with desk-based responsibilities and digital collaboration throughout the verification workflow.
  • Structured onboarding and training on Google Sheets, Microsoft Access, and Trello, using guided practice with the verification steps.
  • Regular check-ins with the team lead to review questions, discuss feedback, and build confidence with assigned tasks.
  • Opportunities to build spreadsheet checking, database searching, discrepancy identification, and concise written handoff skills through daily work.
  • Health coverage, paid leave, a 401(k), maternity leave, and stipends.
