Job Title: Senior DevOps Engineer

Location: Athens, Greece (hybrid, two days a week in the office)

Permanent job opportunity offering Base Salary and Benefits

The Opportunity: A market-leading maritime software platform, used by shipping companies worldwide, is building its DevOps function from first principles. Today, releases reach customer sites and vessels by hand, through closed networks and ports opened on request. This hire designs what replaces it: one standard way to ship software to the cloud, to customer data centres and to ships with intermittent connectivity.

The work:

  • Own the zero-to-one build of DevOps practice, from infrastructure as code to safe rollback
  • Design one deployment model across cloud, customer-hosted and onboard environments
  • Shape the move from Windows-bound estate to containerised, Linux-based delivery
  • Set security, networking and secrets standards that locked-down customers will trust
  • Use AI tooling to run infrastructure change, alongside a team already working this way
  • Work closely with development teams to simplify and standardize development, test, and production environments.
  • Build and maintain reusable infrastructure, automation, and deployment patterns that reduce manual work and improve environment consistency.
  • Improve CI/CD workflows so applications can be built, tested, and released more reliably across multiple deployment targets.
  • Help define and maintain platform standards for configuration, environment structure, secrets handling, and release processes.
  • Support the evolution of internal platform tooling that makes it easier for engineers to provision environments, deploy services, and troubleshoot issues.
  • Contribute to infrastructure as code practices for cloud and hybrid environments, with a focus on repeatability, traceability, and maintainability.
  • Help establish deployment and operational patterns that work across cloud, customer-hosted, and vessel-based environments.
  • Improve observability across build, deployment, and runtime environments, including logging, monitoring, alerting, and troubleshooting workflows.

What Success Looks Like:

  • Development and test environments become easier to create, maintain, and use consistently across teams.
  • Engineers spend less time dealing with environment drift, deployment issues, and manual setup steps.
  • CI/CD and environment management become more standardized, making releases more predictable and easier to support.
  • Shared tooling & platform patterns reduce duplicated effort across teams and create a clearer path from development to production.
  • Production deployments across cloud, customer-hosted, and onboard vessel environments become more repeatable, observable, and operationally reliable.
  • The platform team becomes a useful partner to development teams by solving practical workflow and deployment problems, not just managing infrastructure.

Experience needed:

  • 5+ years experience in DevOps, platform engineering, site reliability engineering, or infrastructure-focused software engineering roles.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms and cloud-native infrastructure, with Azure preferred.
  • Experience supporting or building CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and environment standardization practices.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform, Bicep, Ansible, or similar technologies.
  • Experience with containers and orchestration platforms such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills using tools such as Bash, PowerShell, or Python.
  • Experience working with development teams to improve engineering workflows, reduce operational friction, and support reliable software delivery.
  • Solid understanding of configuration management, secrets handling, environment separation, and release safety.
  • Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting systems used to support infrastructure and application operations.
  • Familiarity with hybrid deployment models, including cloud and on-premises environments.
  • Strong communication skills and a practical, collaborative approach to solving engineering problems.

What Is on Offer:

Senior, hands-on role: the operating model you design becomes the standard. A direct line to engineering leadership, a close-knit team of around 30, private health insurance, and the backing of a growing international maritime software group.

If you have built DevOps foundations rather than inherited them, and want your work running on ships as well as in the cloud, we would like to hear from you.
