The DevOps Engineer II will manage the platform's hosting environment, delivery pipeline, and production operations to enable reliable application releases and ongoing production support. This role will be responsible for cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, monitoring, deployment, recovery, and operational documentation while working closely with the broader engineering team.
This is a Key Personnel position and will be named in our proposal.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the cloud.gov hosting environment, including staging and production environments.
- Manage application deployments, infrastructure as code, configuration, and rollback processes.
- Operate and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automated security and quality checks.
- Manage application logs, metrics, alerts, backups, and recovery procedures.
- Own production monitoring, operational runbooks, and release-verification processes.
- Participate as the primary engineer in the team's rotating urgent-issue escalation coverage.
- Lead incident diagnosis and restoration when production issues occur.
- Plan and support the initial production cutover.
- Maintain system administration, disaster-recovery, and operations documentation.

- Scripting experience supporting infrastructure and application operations.

- Experience working within Agile delivery environments.
- Experience with production incident response, diagnosis, and service restoration.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cloud.gov.
- Experience supporting FedRAMP-hosted environments.
- Experience supporting or providing evidence related to FIPS-validated cryptography.
- Experience with OWASP scanning and automated application-security checks.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a hands-on DevOps engineer who understands that reliable software delivery depends on both strong automation and disciplined production operations. This individual is comfortable owning cloud environments and deployment pipelines while also responding directly when production issues arise.
We are looking for someone who is methodical, proactive, and focused on reliability; who can identify operational risks before they become problems; and who maintains clear documentation and repeatable processes. The successful candidate will work effectively with software engineers and other technical team members to support secure, stable, and efficient application delivery.
