About the Position: The Director, AEMEA Region supports the VP, Regional Programs - AEMEA, in providing strategic and operational leadership to deliver high-quality programs, partnerships and business development for protracted crises settings across the region and development context in Asia/Eurasia. This role plays a vital function in ensuring the smooth implementation of regional programs, strengthening cross-portfolio collaboration, supporting fundraising efforts, and increasing the visibility of AEMEA programs internally and externally. The role liaises regularly with Operations, Finance, and People and Talent points of contact to ensure effective and aligned country-level support. Key expectations for this role include: In the first 90 days, the Director, AEMEA will: Learn and live the Americares values. Complete all required new hire onboarding trainings. Build strong working relationships with Regional Programs - AEMEA program leaders, MHPSS and CDR technical experts, country teams, and HQ partners (e.g., Quality, Impact, and Learning (QIL) and Humanitarian Programs (HP)). Develop an understanding of current portfolio, models, strategy, technical strengths, gaps, opportunities, and context within priority geographies. Provide supervision of this role’s direct portfolio, creating initial direct report and project management supervision cadence and structures.Actively contribute to AEMEA business development by reviewing and supporting partnership opportunities and proposals. Fully understand and plan for fiscal year operational and budget priorities; align with the VP on fiscal year priorities and initial strategic direction for the portfolio. Draft an initial strategy outline and process for protracted crises in the region, including further development and alignment on transition points and criteria between acute and protracted complex crises, in collaboration with Humanitarian Programs. In the first 6 months, the Director, AEMEA will: Deliver consistent, high-quality programming across Asia/Eurasia and protracted crises portfolios, with strong performance against strategic priorities, plans, budgets, and donor requirements. Build robust systems for program design, management, and oversight, ensuring consistent application across the portfolio and alignment with organizational standards. Contribute to portfolio growth efforts by advancing multi-country proposals, co-developing regional business development processes, strengthening donor relationships, and building strategic partnerships aligned with regional priorities. Establish and operationalize a clear regional approach to protracted crises programming, including defined program models, grantmaking approaches, and effective, systematized transitions between Humanitarian Programs and AEMEA. Strengthen alignment of programs with national health priorities and global standards, while deepening partnerships with governments, local actors, and key stakeholders to support scale and sustainability. In collaboration with QIL, embed accountability to affected populations, safeguarding, and community engagement consistently across program design and implementation. Strengthen knowledge management and learning systems to ensure systematic capture and use of program evidence, lessons learned, and best practices to inform program strategy and adaptation. Build and lead a high-performing team with clear accountability, strong management structures, and ongoing capacity development. Strengthen cross-functional collaboration (e.g., HP, QIL, Medicine Security) to ensure coordinated, integrated, and high-impact programming across the region. In the first year, the Director, AEMEA will: Lead the development and execution of strategic initiatives aligned with organizational priorities and business objectives; support strategic planning. Drive cross-functional collaboration to deliver programs across regions. Support the VP in advancing business development and program growth. Oversee planning, implementation, and evaluation of core projects, in collaboration with country teams, QIL, etc. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners to advance program goals and impact. Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to team members fostering a high-performing and mission-centric culture. Duties and Responsibilities: People manage staff, ensuring their success in meeting objectives while also supporting their professional growth. Actively model and contribute to Americares values, work culture and mission. Engage in and contribute to team spaces with openness, global competencies, and a growth mindset. Lead the development and execution of strategic initiatives aligned with organizational priorities and business objectives; support strategic planning for the AEMEA region. Drive cross-functional collaboration to deliver programs across regions. Support the Regional Vice President - AEMEA in advancing business development and program growth.] Oversee planning, implementation, and evaluation of core projects, in collaboration with country teams, QIL, and other internal stakeholders. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external partners to advance program goals and impact. Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to team members fostering a high-performing and mission-centric culture. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Degrees and/or experience required for the role: Master’s degree in public health, public administration, or related field Competencies required for the role include: Demonstrated ability to drive long-term vision that aligns regional initiatives with organizational priorities and global strategy. Ability to build and sustain strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders to advance programmatic and organizational goals. Excellent planning, execution, and program evaluation skills to drive measurable impact and continuous improvement. Proven ability to provide direct supervision and team leadership. Deep knowledge of public health program design and implementation across development and humanitarian contexts. Strong ability to identify opportunities and successfully develop proposals. Demonstrated ability to effectively lead across diverse cultural, geographical, and operational contexts within AEMEA region. Excellent communication skills, with ability to communicate clearly and persuasively across a wide range of audiences. Proven ability to leverage data, insights, and evidence to inform strategy, improve performance, and guide decision-making. Demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality outcomes with accountability and to hold others accountable for achieving measurable outcomes. Willingness to travel up to 30% to areas within the AEMEA region. US work authorization without restriction and 30% travel are required for this role. Candidates must be currently living in and will continue to live in one of the following states/territories: CT, DC, FL, GA, IL, MD, MA, NC, NJ, NY, OR, PA, Puerto Rico, TN, TX, VA, or WA. These competencies are preferred but not required for the role: Fluency in languages that are spoken in at least one of our core locations (India, Philippines, Tanzania, El Salvador, Puerto Rico, Colombia, etc.), in addition to English; strong preference for proficiency in Hindi/Urdu, French, and/or Arabic. Demonstrated ability to navigate matrixed organizations.
